Default Disney Adding Dolby Vision To Future 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases plus 100GB discs

According to the September/October 2024 Widescreen Review magazine, Disney is improving its picture quality by offering both Dolby Vision HDR and 100GB for many future 4K Blu-ray disc releases.

Select quotes from page 6 of the September/October 2024 Widescreen Review magazine


“Up until the upcoming release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Disney has released the vast majority of its films on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc mastered in only the HDR10 high dynamic range format, rather than the Dolby Vision HDR format. Following Deadpool & Wolverine will be Alien: Romulus, and there after on most if not all of Disney’s future 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases.”

“Home theatre enthusiasts will appreciate the more accurate HDR pictures that can be achieve by applying Dolby Vision HDR.”

“Other studio have been releasing their 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray releases with Dolby Vision as well as HDR10 and in a few instances with HDR10+.”

“Disney should also started using 100 GB (rather than 66 GB) discs to further boost picture quality.”
