Anyone know if these will be region locked?

I love there releases but like in the uk so it would be nice if they where region free!!

I don't have a concrete answer but seeing how BFI's blurays are region locked, I betcha Criterions will also be.

The new review at this site for CHUNKING EXPRESS lists it as a Region A release.

That really sucks I so wanted to get in on the start this time as I missed out on so many of there dvd releases.

Anyone know if there is a way to get round the region coding?

Sorry, but expect region A. Criterion will usually only be able to get North American release rights for films. That's why they don't have non-english subtitles.

There is a way around region coding though I'm not sure how. Try looking up blu ray in wikipedia. I remember part of the blu ray article talking about the encoding. It'll be a start and give you good information.

Great idea. I'm very surprised Looking for Mr. Goodbar has not gotten a DVD release. WHat's Paramount's problem with this. Slow Dancing in the Big City has never gotten a Home Video release, and not on TV, that's a worse problem than Looking For Mr. Goodbar, which actually has had a VHS/Laserdisc/Beta/CED release, just not DVD but has been on TV before. United Artists originally released Slow Dancing in the Big City, who owns this movie, i don't think MGM, It's one of the most forgotten films out there, it should be a public domain movie then. Looking for Mr. Goodbar i will always be surprised that it never got a DVD or Blu Ray release. Crusing is great too!!!

Really? I think the Criterion packaging is great... Breathes new life into these classics. Their tricks definitely work on me.

I'd really dig it if Criterion would add the John Sayles flick MATEWAN to their catalogue. Great film... Would really benefit from the Criterion treatment.

I want to see a Criterion release of Dersu Uzala (1975). Also, they should upgrade their DVD releases for Red Beard (1965) and Closely Watched Trains (1966) to Blu-ray.
