Default DVD Can Save Your Life!

This headline just caught my eye.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080220/...letproof_dvd_3

Imagine how much safer you would be carrying BD's around in your pocket! I wonder what caliber the BD scratch-resistant coating would stop.....

Default DVDs are still good for something....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23244310/?GT1=10856

DVD in firefighter’s coat pocket blocks a bullet, The bullet hit a DVD McRoy was carrying in his pocket. He suffered a bruise but didn't realize he had been shot. As he told a police officer what happened he noticed a bullet hole in his jacket, the shattered DVD case and a piece of the bullet.

"I was saved by a DVD," McRoy said. "How lucky can you get?"

Ahh, good one. Or maybe something with Chuck Norris. But it hit a window first so that stopped a lot of the momentum.

Now imagine what a blu-ray disc with hard coating could have stopped.

Lucky guy though, glad to see him make it.

Wouldn't that be crazy if they found out blu-ray disc could stop a RPG. The US Army starts coating all its vehicles with Blu-ray discs

I could see the new motto for blu-ray disc.

"Blu-ray is great for RPGs in more ways than one!"

(role playing games and rocket propelled grenades if you didn't get the joke).

Yep pure luck. Though most firefighters don't carry dvds in their pocket while on-duty. Just happened at the right place and the right time

If it was a Blu-ray, he'd still be able to play the movie afterwards. BD's are fingerprint-, scratch-, and bullet-resistant. It's in the FAQ, I swear!

Good thing he isn't a supporter of downloads.

Ahh, not bad. I like to play first person shooters. PREY being the last one I started to play deathmatch online. They have these little critter grenades that you can place anywhere. Someone walking by gets killed. I throw them on health packs and in places where players respawn. Killed one player via critter who respawned everyplace I had a critter. 4 kills in about a second on one guy.

My Prey player name is one where I wanted to stay with the Indian theme. I wanted it to start out sounding cool but end sounding stupid so people get pissed when they are killed by the dude with the frikken cool but nerdy Indian name. I go by "Chief Thunder Squat". Or just "Thunder Squat" for short.
