Germany American Werewolf in Paris (1997)

According to this unboxing video, the sequel will probably also be released on 4K UHD from Turbine soon.

(from 6: 22 min to listen)

Yaasss! Well, below the level of LONDON, but I still dig it.

I hope it's an actual remaster and not just an upscale of the previous upscale.

from email I got...

It's getting hairy in Paris - in 4K!
Often requested, we are pleased to present you today the Ultra HD Blu-ray world premiere of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS. Based on a brand new 4K restoration of the original negative, the werewolf will be up to mischief on UHD from January 21st - including HDR10 and Dolby Vision!

The three limited mediabooks (cover A - you will recognize it for sure - comes from the talented Timo Wuerz!) Contain a Blu-ray with several hours of bonus material and a 24-page book part penned by Christoph N. Kellerbach in addition to the UHD.

Can now be pre-ordered exclusively in the Turbine Shop.

And before anyone asks, yes, the book is confirmed to be in German only. I got one of the “444 copies” ones, which I think may officially make it my rarest edition of all (even my Elijah Wood remake of MANIAC went to 500).

Just saw the email as well…whenever I talk about this movie I tend to trash it, especially with my love of London, but I really want this haha.

EDIT: also went with the 444 copies one, mainly cause it’s the cover I liked the most.

444 copies Cover C here as well, because of the artwork, and they had me with the "...brandneuen 4K-Restauration vom Originalnegativ..." from the email.

Just to shed some light onto this: We worked with director Anthony Waller on the new grade and we made sure that we follow the best colour grading reference we could get. For most of it we went with the US version for brightness and also with the UK version for colours, but also changed colours here and there where the old versions were off (artistically, continuity etc.). We scanned the OCN, which was in very good shape. A few sections, e.g. the title sequence, came from dupe material. This is also true for all scenes where CGI had been used, this material was lasered onto film and spliced into the OCN.

I am tempted to say this has never looked better, but we'll let you guys judge.

Stay safe.

I think Maniac is 666? I have a copy. I suppose I could get up and check. Maybe later.

I thought we were talking about the only good/original cover. Oh, and mediabook.

Back to the movie at hand, I've never seen it, and the reviews aren't exactly putting into blind buy territory for me. I do love Delpy, though.

I just said “my copy”. You know Germans release any absurd number of editions so that’s on you.

It's fun, you should be entertained by it if you just temper your expectations a bit. It's not on the level of London, just take that off the table right now. It's more in line with the late 90's boom of horror. It's "hip" and humorous(it is genuinely funny at times).

Best place to order this? Directly from turbine? Saw this the day it came out in theaters, and being 11 at the time every new movie was my favorite movie and watched it maybe once since then so I definitely need to grab this
