Default Official Yamaha Aventage Owner's Thread

Well, I thought I would start a thread on this very interesting line of receivers from Yamaha. They look to be a very nice leap above the standard line of receivers, and I'm sure there are some Blu-ray.com members who will be checking these babies out. Let the discussion begin! Below is the top of the line RX-A3000. I'm also including a link below to Yamaha's website so everyone can compare all of the models.

You can find additional information on Yamaha RX-A3010 receiver in the Detailed Review of Yamaha RX-A3010 Aventage Receiver thread.

- I like the new front panel design, without all those ugly logos (like Pioneer and Marantz do with theirs, on top of their receivers).

- Also the display is reminescent of Harman Kardon receivers, except for the color (white vs. green).

- Double thick bottom plate, nice but adds weight where you'll have to deduct some for comparison with other receiver's manufacturers.

- A fifth foot in the middle, why not, but is it truly necessary? ...Unless the main transformer is right above that foot.

* Overall, nice clean design, and with white letterings instead of amber like we're so used to with Yamaha products.

==> My final take: Yamaha needs a boost on their receivers as Onkyo and Denon and Marantz and Pioneer are perhaps doing better in this continent.
So by improving the design they expect to gain some market share.

But the final proof is in the pudding (listening)!

_______________________________________

Note: Remember when Yamaha have their THX certified receivers (1400/2400, 1500/2500 & 1600/2600 series)?
Well they gave up to save money from the royalties.

Also, can you imagine a company like Yamaha that makes their own DSP chips to ever adopt a system like Audyssey, or Trinnov, or Advanced MCACC? ...Not in a hundred years! ...And no matter what!

But then, they've been at it (DSP effects) with Front Presence channels (and Rear ones too in their Z series)
for a very long time (1986 or so I believe).
And they have so many DSP audio modes for both Music and Movies, and so many parameters' adjustments,
that you can spend almost a lifetime experimenting!

That's Yamaha!

* Oh, and as anyone knows they also make outboard motors (for boats), power generators, motorcycles, musical instruments (pianos, guitars, flutes, drums, etc.), speakers, DSP synthesizers, and tons of other products...

I agree...they have a much cleaner look than the standard line. They also seem to have a much improved build quality judging from the pictures and the info provided on the website. Of course you're right though...the proof is in the performance at the end of the day.

Yeah...the nerve of her!! LOL. I feel you man. I wish I had some disposable cash these days. Oh well...gotta eat. Yeah...I'm not much of a Yamaha fan, but I was quite intrigued by this line. The styling is top notch and the build quality appears to be very high. From what I've read these receivers also have upgraded power supplies as well as some other components, so I expect these to be very good performers. Hopefully we'll see some reviews in the near future.

So these new AVRs are not THX certified?

Are you kidding? Yamaha gave up a long time ago (the only one that now remains is their flagship model, the Z11, which is obsolete now)!

* And the only ones that were in the past were from the 1000 and 2000 series (more exactly the xx04, xx05, and xx06 series).

Yamaha means DSP and mainly DSP, that's it!

Am I the only one that doesn't like the new look? I really prefer the warm look the orange lights had. Looks too much like a Denon receiver for my liking. I am interested in the performance though when these do get reviewed.

The lighting is by far the biggest cosmetic change...It doesn't bother me much though and honestly I don't see the resemblance in the Denon receivers that I'm familiar with outside of the lighting.

The push compartment on the face that hides the front panel goodies is a very cool feature that gives these receivers a good, slick cosmetic look, imo.

Agreed, I love the new updated look.

The A2000 is on my radar as a possible replacement for my entry level HTR6160. Too bad my local dealer isn't getting them in stock until closer to end of Sept.

Looking at the rear panel from the RX-A3000, it has 11 pair of speaker's binding posts, and with a pair for the Front Presence speakers and another one for the Rear Presence speakers.

* Did Yamaha finally woke up? ...For their regular line of receivers? (Because before, only their flagship model, the RX-Z9 and Z11 allowed for them both to be active simultaneously). ...But then, the Back surrounds would have to be disabled! ...Or unless, perhaps, with the addition of external power amp(s)?
Can you make them a full 11.2-channel system setup?
[...That's where the future lays. ...And with independent parameter adjustments for at least two separately positioned subwoofers.]

...More DSP processing power (chips) from Yamaha!
-> That would be a real AVENTAGE!

Picked up an RX-A2000 this evening. Seems pretty good thus far although I haven't spent much time with it yet. If anyone has any tips or tricks I'm all ears.

they look pretty clean. I wanna hear the 2000 and 3000 models, the only ones I've heard so far are in the 600-800 price range and didn't impress me much.
I am still really happy with my Denon 2808 and my Elite VSX-03 to be looking at new receivers!!! Ugh...addiction is bad
although I might get an Onkyo 3007 soon if I get a really good deal on it! I'd really like to have a 9.2 set up with front height speakers!

USA Yamaha Z11

For anyone interested the Yamaha Z11 is still available through Yamaha and selected online sites. Spoke with a Yamaha rep yesterday about the New 3000 7.2 and said that can be 11.2 with additional receiver or amp to which I have a DSP3090A old flagship still running strong can be used. Thats when I inquited about the Z11. He said it won't be gone for a while.
