Default Alucarda (1975)

This one has long been on my wishlist, and Vinegar Syndrome's recent release of Juan López Moctezuma's The Mansion of Madness has me wondering if a Blu-ray release could potentially be in the works through a boutique label (likely VS).

I came across this article showing that the IFC Center screened a new digitally-restored version of the film in February 2023, which makes me think a Blu-ray could be coming soon. Anyone have any theories?

There was a post from Jared from Mondo Macabro maybe a year ago commenting on that theatrical "restoration" that was going around, he said it was just an upscale so there were still no plans for a blu-ray since it wouldn't really look any better than the DVD.

Mondo Macabro has the rights to this, not Vinegar Syndrome. They’ve been very clear over the years that the elements do not exist to do a proper HD transfer for Blu-ray, unfortunately. Their DVD is still in print for anyone interested.

Dang, that's a bummer. I have had the DVD for almost 20 years now and honestly thought it was out of print. I guess we'll have to live with it as is then.
