SPHE LAUNCHES NEW BLU-RAY™ MANUFACTURE-ON-DEMAND PROGRAM

Blu-ray “Choice Collection” Kicks off with Long-Awaited Debuts

of The Karate Kid Part III (1989) & The Next Karate Kid (1994)

on September 6

CULVER CITY, Calif. (August 19, 2016) – On September 6, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) launches the Blu-ray™ “Choice Collection,” the newest format offering from SPHE’s successful Manufacture-on-Demand (MOD) program. The “Choice Collection” offers a diverse slate of titles, encompassing something for every taste, with a curated flow continuing throughout this year and into next.

The collection kicks off with the long awaited Blu-ray debuts of fan favorites The Karate Kid Part III (1989) and The Next Karate Kid (1994). In October, the slate includes Brian De Palma’s edge-of-your-seat thriller Body Double (1984), Marie Antoinette (2006), which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and the acclaimed music documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston (2005). All features are presented in full high definition with lossless audio.

Blu-ray MOD is an exciting expansion of the existing DVD MOD program, which has seen a variety of the studio’s fan favorites, cult classics and hidden gems come to market with a seamless consumer experience, via retailers such as Amazon.

But you can buy The Karate Kid Part III and The Next Karate Kid from overseas for quite cheap.

This is pointless.

I'm more then happy with my 2-Pack as I find both of these to be atrocious. That being said, I'm glad they're finally coming out for those that want them.

i like the 3rd one, showing the fall and re-rise if Sensei Creese. The whole Daniel love interest thing is kinda lame, as well as Snake's character, but it has a special place in my heart....the Next Karate Kid is for sure attrocious. I'd much rather they package 1-3 with the Jaden Smith one.

there's a reason for that the love interest in this was underage at the time and ralph macchio was a lot older he wasn't a kid and it would look really bad so they made them friends instead hope that answers you question. i'm more upset with 3 things with the sequels 1) elisabeth shue leaves in part 2 with a terrible reason which ruins her character in part 1. 2) the same thing kinda happens to the love interest in part 2 in part 3. 3)the next karate kid doesn't make sense didn't mr miyagi and daniel open a banzai shop they didn't even explain what happened to him at all in the next karate kid. that's why to me the next karate kid should never have been made unless daniel and mr miyagi were her teachers or something to have him in the sequel you know.

Quick Silver method:
A man can't stand, he can't fight.
A man can't breathe, he can't fight.
A man can't see, he can't fight.

Wise words to live by.

If these are pressed discs, they'll eventually make their way into a four- or five-pack with the others. I'm fine with the DVDs until then.

BD-R's at that SRP is pointless. I was waiting to see if Part III ever got a US release, but I'll just order the German Blu-ray now.

For the technically challenged such as myself, what's the biggest difference between a pressed Blu-Ray disc, versus a BD-R? Is one more vulnerable to damage or erasure, and if so, why?

As for the last two Karate Kid sequels, I'm very happy they're being released in the States. I loved all three of Ralph Macchio's entries as a kid, and actually enjoyed Hillary Swank's performance.

As long as it's PRESSED and not BURNED....I'll buy part 3. Then I can get rid of my part 3 &4 double feature, which I HATE.
