Yeah the current release doesn't have as many extras as the likely future Ultimate Edition.

Yes, if you can wait a year. The films presentation, however, isn't bad at all on this current release (Review here). So if you're just concerned about watching the movies and not extras, you may want this one.

Then you may want this version. $16 isn't a bad price to pay for a good year of usage. Also this version is not completely bare bones.

"The bonus material consists of two commentary tracks, both culled from the Ultimate and Extreme editions. The first is a 1993 compilation of interviews with 26 members of the cast and crew. All of the major players are here, and though the track doesn't address what's happening on the screen, it does give a lot of interesting information.

The next commentary track is provided by James Cameron and co-writer William Wisher. This is one of the better commentary tracks out there. Cameron and Wisher are entertaining and discuss all aspects of the production and filming. This is one of those tracks that once you start it you can't quite tear yourself away to turn it off. An excellent bonus feature." - DVDTalk

I was very much the same, but I read some things, mainly on rottentomatoes, of him talking about the project, and he realizes what he's taking on, and he's been in touch w/ Cameron, even adding a cast member which Cameron recommended. So, some of my fears are the slightest bit assuaged, but only slightly.

It's actually only $15 at HMV. (2 for $30). You can combine it with another 2 for $30 BD, DVD or CD. Good deal. I have it and the PQ is quite good. As others said, not much on extras, but at the price, a great purchase.

Talk from a doofus like him means nothing to me. People like that can make things sound great when they talk about it. That's how they get employed. Look at Uwe Boll for gods sake.

To the OP, the Extended Edition is quite worth it IMO. Some very good extra scenes. I am holding out for it.

I don't understand how he continues to get work. Weren't like 3 of the worst 5 movies of all time (according to rottentomatos) directed by Uwe Boll?

We're in almost full agreement here, but I'm glad he didn't say something like, "we're going to take this in a new/completely different direction..."

I have been ripped off even more!
