Smile What would you do if you won the lottery?

I'd probably split like half of it with my parents, brother and sisters. I'd buy a huge plot of land and build a bad a$$ (but not huge) house on it. I'd buy a giant RV so I could travel the world, a fully restored 1969 Chevy Chevelle, a Cadillac Escalade, and a Harley. I'd probably try to invest some money as well, not sure in what way specifically but I'd have plenty of time to research.

What would you guys do?

Spend half, save half. Would probably use the spending half to upgrade my HT, my car (maybe get an electric one), possibly buy a house, if there's enough for all that.

I love to daydream about it. Let's say I get $60 million. Right off the bat, half goes to savings or investments. Then (get ready for nerdy answer time) I would set up significant inter vivos trusts for my children. Then I'd pay off our house that we're ridiculously underwater on (yah Florida real estate in 2006!)

I'd give some to my parents, some to my wife's, some to my brother, some to my sister/brother-in-law, and set up some trusts for my 2 nieces and 1 nephew. I'd like to donate some to my colleges, too.

After that, it's time to get the beach house in the Caribbean, the house in Montana, and the pad in NYC. (My wife thinks the pad in NYC is dumb but having lived there once, I'd love to do it again whenever I want).

All I want to do is travel with my family anyway, so we'd do that. We can rent out the 3 above-mentioned places while we travel.

Wouldn't it be nice?

Why Montana? There's nothing there.

Give my parents and in-laws enough money to live out the rest of their lives. Pay off/buy my brothers & sisters houses, and give my best friend about $10k b/c I love him like a brother.

Then I’d pay off all my debt, put money into an account for my kids to go to school, buy some land not far from where I live, build the equivalent of a $250k house, nothing huge, just nice.

Then do something w/the rest where I could live comfortaby off the interest for the rest of my life.

My kids wouldn’t get any kind of inheritance until I died, they’d have to go through life the way I did. They’d get something when they got married, maybe enough to buy a house but nothing more.

I refuse to have a spoiled brat for a kid and I wouldn’t do that to them. To many kids don’t appreciate anything when they come from money.

You clearly haven't been there. Here are just a few some examples of some of the beauty I've seen there:

Honestly, I wouldn't tell ANYONE, not even my parents.....they don't need any extra cash, so I wouldn't have to share....my in-laws, need help, but I still wouldn't help.....=)....my wife may not like that, but I don't really like my in-laws anyways....=).

I would pay off ALL my bills, and buy and island in the carribean....become a hermit and not talk to ANYONE!! I would be the "king" of my island, and do whatever I want.....when my family and in-laws ask how I can afford it and make the comments "you must have won the lottery"....I deny until blue in the face.....then not allow them to come on my island again, because I'm the king!....haha...(I'd let MY mom and dad still visit).

I would seriously take a nap. Because I know once the tires hit the ground, it will be a PITA for the next several months with the paperwork, people coming out of the woodwork saying you owe them money, etc.
