My wife gets a 40% discount on SHARP products (yes even TVs) thru work, and we want to get a new HDTV for the bedroom. Does anyone here own one of these (LC-37GP1U or LC-42D62U)? I'd like your opinions!
I think 37"-42" is plenty since the tv would be on the dresser at the foot of the bed. About 10' from screen to eyes. Thanks ya'll! Last edited by Schrute Farms; 02-14-2008 at 12:44 AM. |

As this TV is for the bedroom, I will not have a receiver hooked up to the TV. It will be my HD DirecTV satellite receiver and a Blu-Ray player connected directly to the LCD. My question is, How is the sound from the TV speakers? |

Until recently I only had my PS3 going through the tv (bought a Onkyo605). I never had any issues with the sound distorting. I have used as my Living Room tv for a year before the 605. The room is 14' x 21' and the 2 main seats for tv viewing are roughly 15' away, give or take. Out of 40, I usually only had to run the volume level at 19-24.
As a quick test, I just turned it up to 30 and it started getting a little "tinny" but that is WAY louder then you would ever need in the bedroom... (you know....to cover up 'the noise'....depending on how long you've been married anyway...hehe) |

I'm racking my brain to see what other kinds of stuff I can tell you....
The preset audio video modes are actually pretty good. They also allow you to change the look a bit of a film. Movie most IMO is best for blu, but in daylight I'll put it on PC mode. Standard looks great for HD cable/Sat. The inputs (all 5) are selectable from a Harmony remote (if you are so inclined). It looks great and handles resolution changes well. (1080 to 480 etc). umm.... I'll post more if I can think of it... |

Well then. Plasmas! The PX75s are a GREAT line of TVs, 720p, and are Cheap now that they've dropped they prices even more. And if you're looking into 1080p, then the pz77s will Not dissapoint! Anti-Glare coating to help with the Sun
If you have a room Appropriate for a Plasma, go for a Plasma. Burn in is almost a thing of the past, and if something does burn in, change the channel for a little while (a day maximum) and it's gone. You get better contrast, and you don't need to worry about all this 120hz jazz |
