Default Sharp Aquos LC-37GP1U or LC-42D62U: Opinions on these LCDs?

My wife gets a 40% discount on SHARP products (yes even TVs) thru work, and we want to get a new HDTV for the bedroom. Does anyone here own one of these (LC-37GP1U or LC-42D62U)? I'd like your opinions!

I think 37"-42" is plenty since the tv would be on the dresser at the foot of the bed. About 10' from screen to eyes.

Thanks ya'll!

Absolutely Love mine. I would definitely recommend it to you or anyone else willing to listen. Do you have any questions about it particularly?

YES!

As this TV is for the bedroom, I will not have a receiver hooked up to the TV. It will be my HD DirecTV satellite receiver and a Blu-Ray player connected directly to the LCD. My question is, How is the sound from the TV speakers?

Until recently I only had my PS3 going through the tv (bought a Onkyo605). I never had any issues with the sound distorting. I have used as my Living Room tv for a year before the 605. The room is 14' x 21' and the 2 main seats for tv viewing are roughly 15' away, give or take. Out of 40, I usually only had to run the volume level at 19-24.

As a quick test, I just turned it up to 30 and it started getting a little "tinny" but that is WAY louder then you would ever need in the bedroom... (you know....to cover up 'the noise'....depending on how long you've been married anyway...hehe)

I'm racking my brain to see what other kinds of stuff I can tell you....

The preset audio video modes are actually pretty good. They also allow you to change the look a bit of a film. Movie most IMO is best for blu, but in daylight I'll put it on PC mode. Standard looks great for HD cable/Sat.

The inputs (all 5) are selectable from a Harmony remote (if you are so inclined). It looks great and handles resolution changes well. (1080 to 480 etc).

umm.... I'll post more if I can think of it...

I had problems with slight banding and poor contrast. The older Sharp's were pretty good for their time, but I wouldn't buy the 62U now unless I had serious price contraints. I'd get a newer model if possible.

The SHARP discount has ended, and the current is 40% off Panasonic, soooo....

I might just do some research for now. I think the Panasonic pz700s are good right?

Default Yes... it would even be better

than the LCD TV's. Excellent picture on the plasma... you will never regret it :-)
Especially after owning an LCD panel.
cheers

Well then. Plasmas! The PX75s are a GREAT line of TVs, 720p, and are Cheap now that they've dropped they prices even more. And if you're looking into 1080p, then the pz77s will Not dissapoint! Anti-Glare coating to help with the Sun

If you have a room Appropriate for a Plasma, go for a Plasma. Burn in is almost a thing of the past, and if something does burn in, change the channel for a little while (a day maximum) and it's gone. You get better contrast, and you don't need to worry about all this 120hz jazz
