Default How petrified should I be of burn in?

I have had an OLED for probably 6 years, I watch quite a bit of hockey but that's about it for static imagery on my screen. I watch a lot of HBO and a lot of, 1:78:1 content.

I've only played about 30hrs of games over the 6 years I've had the TV.

Since no one seems inclined to weigh in, I'll give it a shot. Quick answer, probably not too much. Little hard to say without knowing more, like what OLED you have. My first was an LG C7 years ago. Watched a lot of news with the station logo in a bottom corner. Eventually got a light blur in the shape of that logo. Annoyed me greatly, but most folks didn't much notice it. However, the tech is MUCH improved in recent years. My last two Sony's have had ZERO issues. Burn in worries were very much blown out of proportion, in my opinion, but it WAS an issue in the early years of OLED. In recent times, I believe that you would seriously have to work at it to get burn in. So, worst case, if your set develops a problem, know that the replacement will be pretty much bullet proof. Good luck...

Burn in WILL happen. It's how the diodes naturally degrade. The questions are do you worry daily about dying (it's inevitable) and are you never going to buy another TV in your lifetime?

Uh-huh. I would suggest that those are two separate events. And yes, organic anything implies a finite life span. What's your timeline for that diode degradation? Because it seems to me that burn in these days would require extensive misuse to kill off specific pixels.

ok..here's a real answer

it's not much different than owning a plasma tv. If you abuse it you can get some burn in. I think we have come a long way in caring for our tv's and knowing what not to do.

eg. my buddy and I bought an LG C7 at the same time. His wife watches it and falls asleep with it on the Nickelodeon channel...yup burn. Mine..no burn in.

My c1 is covered by a 5 year warranty that covers burn in. I turned off the safety settings and put it on sports with everything on highest possible brightness probably ran for about 16 hours a day for like 4 or 5 days. Nothing happened. Not that it won't but I literally TRIED to be burn it in and had no luck. I wouldn't worry about it.
