Default Clerks (1994) / Chasing Amy (1997)

Clerks and Chasing Amy preorders are now up at Amazon. Kevin Smith Box-set is also available.

Glad to see a date attached to these. REALLY looking forward to finally owning these two flicks.

For the box set, what's the third film? Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? Dogma? I guess it'd have to be one that Disney owns, eh?

I think Clerks 2 would be more appropriate, frankly. Ah well, Not like I'm getting the boxset anyway, since besides these two, all I need is Mallrats and that's not happening since it's Universal. Here's hoping the prices become reasonable in time, and that they don't skimp out on extras. I hear the Clerks X edition is pretty expansive, and Criterion did a release of Chasing Amy in the past (and apparently the existing commentary for Chasing Amy has a hilarious and antiquated statement about DVD).

ps @ above: they're Disney releases, so maybe they have a super high suggested retail price? I wouldn't expect them to be that high when they actually come out.

Any contractor working on that Death Star knew the risk involved. If they got killed, it's their own fault.

The 3rd movie is Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks is supposed to have all the features of Clerks X, along with some new things. Chasing Amy, who knows?

A contractor listens to this, not his wallet.
Chasing Amy for me, can always use more Kevin Smith crap.

It has to be JASBSB.

I don't know, look at the Waterboy. It recently came out from Disney and Amazon has it right now for $24.99. Disney needs to wake up when it comes to catalog pricing.

It would be Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back as the other three films in the Askewniverse series are owned by other studios.

Jersey Girl does not count as it is not part of the Askewniverse. Unless, of course, Disney decides to completely ignore Kevin Smith's intentions and include it in a "Keven Smith" box set instead of the Askewniverse box set. But hey, when have they ever ignored what a filmmaker really wanted.

Just to add to the pile, Smith said awhile ago (back when he said these would be out in July) that the third film would be J&SB.

Meh... 25 is still a lot more reasonable. I might even be inclined to pay as much for these films in particular, especially if they're as packed with features as I'm anticipating... Unlike Waterboy. Isn't that thing practically barebones?

Huh? Dogma is Miramax, and Miramax is Disney. Clerks 2 is TWC, and Mallrats is Universal. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is Dimension, which is Disney, at least at that time. TWC took Dimension with them after the split, but Disney retained the rights to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Clerks and Chasing Amy were both Miramax, Disney.

So Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back all fall under Disney. But now that I think about it, I think I do recall hearing it would be Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back appearing in a boxset, back when it was first buzzing around the Clerks and Chasing Amy were coming.

Oh man... if it was Jersey Girl I'd be so glad. Really looking forward to that one, but the low demand doesn't make it look good for me.

Anyway, if Smith wants a View Askiewniverse boxset, it ain't happening anyway, what with all the different studios. Funny thing: I recall a while back, his website was selling BOXES, just BOXES for a boxset. A person would have to buy each movie individually, but they could get the box from him. Wonder how long before they start offering a BD box haha.

Nah Dogma was Lionsgate for theatrical and Sony for home video. And Sony did release it on Blu.

It's $20-25 but if you have the DVD(which you can get for like $4 these days) you can get $10 back. Not too bad if you ask me.

A re-release of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back would be nice. Not only is the current Blu-ray missing almost all the extras from the DVD, but the transfer is horrendous.

I don't mind the transfer and I know there's no extras but it's one of my favourite movies so I don't mind that either. Damn youse!

You're right. That's weird. Wikipedia says it's a Miramax title and Miramax means Disney. It also names Lionsgate, but I know the BD release wasn't Lionsgate. Is there a special reason why Sony did the BD release? Or is Wikipedia just flat out wrong?
