So this film is both one of my favorite Richard Pryor films of all time, and one of my favorite NASCAR comedy drama films of all time. Sadly WAC, or any other boutique label with a WB deal still hasn't given this film a Blu-Ray release at all, and I don't know why as it's a very historical film that has been forgotten about to time. It's a shame really as Wendell Scott is a legendary historical NASCAR driver that was the very first African American race car driver ever, but literally no Blu-Ray release somehow, which is ridiculous. As Richard Pryor does a phenomenal job playing this legendary driver from NASCAR history.
Anyways, this film is really funny with some very dramatic moments and is essentially the story of Wendell Scott, and how he became such a famous NASCAR driver, and also his life story. It's a shame really as this film was quite important in the 70s as it was one of the few non-blaxploitation films that came out in the 70s alongside films like Car Wash, and Bingo Long and the Traveling Motor All Stars sadly unlike those films this one has been completely forgotten about these days. So maybe just maybe we'll finally get a Blu-Ray release of this title this year, or next year. Last edited by Watershipdownisgood; 01-26-2025 at 09:27 PM. |

Heck yeah I want both of these titles so bad also Wendell Scott was a legendary NASCAR driver that won a number of championships, and division titles. There's a big reason why he got inducted into the NASCAR hall of fame in 2015, which was 10 years ago. George I hope you're listening I think it's high time Greased Lightnin, and Moving get Blu-Ray releases this year its quite long awaited.

It just may not be high priority for Warner at this moment. WAC will not release it as is, they will not use old masters for releases any more. This is the reason so many Warner titles have yet to see the light of day on Blu-ray. But if a remastered or restored transfer becomes available, I am pretty sure WAC would consider it, or it could be licensed out to another label. It has been streaming on MAX off and on over the past year, and it looks fine enough for streaming, but it is an old transfer and would be a let down if it appeared on disc as it looks at the moment.

Just rewatched the film on DVD yesterday on one of my two days off it’s a great underrated comedic drama biopic of a legendary driver I mean the cast is great Beau Bridges, Vincent Gardenia, Bill Cobbs as Wendell Scott’s father, Cleavon Little, Pam Grier as Wendell Scott’s wife, and while the DVD was fine there were a number of areas in the film picture, and audio wise that could be fixed with a WAC Blu-Ray. Fingers crossed this year is the year that it happens along with Moving which I also rewatched yesterday to both films hold up incredibly well, and they deserve way better than being stuck on DVD. Hopefully George delivers these titles this year as it seems like a huge year for African American cinema from WAC so I think this year might be the year I and many Richard Pryor fans get these on Blu-Ray.
