At this point, I'm pretty much past caring about where a release of Fright Night Part 2 will come from. I just want my own (legit) copy of the film and I want it now.

Still just waiting to see what this post is all about.

Kinda reminds me of Silent Night Deadly Night...but considering one of their most sought after and coveted releases has been Terrifier, I wouldn't be surprised if they did copies of Christmas Bloody Christmas. It's pretty comparable to the Terrifiers; modern, practical effects, tons of blood and gore, and a bit of 80's cheese sprinkled in.

From last June:

Quote:
FRIGHT NIGHT Collection - CMA#38
Updates:
Today we share some news on the most awaited project of the next months dedicated to Fright Night!
We reveal two fantastic exclusive artworks made by Giorgio Finamore inspired by the two films with all the main characters.
These illustrations will be featured on the booklets and they will also be available as official posters in the new section of the site entirely dedicated to posters and illustrations (we'll give you updates soon).
After months of work we can give you some more details even aboute contents of the discs.
Fright Night
it will be available in the 4K + 2 Blu Ray steelbook version released by Sony and will contain the first part of the documentary "You're so cool brewster" and special extra contents.
50 copies signed by Tom Holland will be available as "Deluxe Version".
Fright Night 2:
It will be available in Blu Ray version from Master HD. Unfortunately our searches for materials for a 4K rescan were unsuccessful and this master is the best currently available.
However, a digital restoration was possible with the improvement of the Italian audio track.
An exclusive metal box will be created for Fright Night 2!
The extra Blu Ray disc (CM exclusive) will contain the second part of the documentary "You're so cool brewster" subtitled in the main languages: Italian, English, German, French, Spanish (to be confirmed).
The work for our small staff is really huge and we are doing the best to be able to meet the announced release date: May 2024.
We remind you that Fright Night will be available with Bram Stocker's Dracula which will be released at the same time

Re: FN2
Sounds like it will be the very same master as in German disc. Now let's wait if the audio is in stereo or mono .

I was checking the cine museum facebook page to see when the release date was (May 2024 it seems) and kept digging until I saw this forum:
Help wanted Fright Night 2 restoration

It seems the dude that wanted help, which was offered to him 3 times, never seemed to have answered, because he stopped posting in 2019
Such a shame.

Same transfer, as it comes from the original German blu, but it was before it was corrected to be in stereo, as opposed to mono.

So, nice picture, mono sound.

Resen put out 2 different releases, one in 2016 and one in 2022...which do you have?

The 2016 says mono, but it looks like the 2022 could be Stereo? It could also be an incorrect listing...

I've had both. Sold the first one, and used it to pick up the re-release.

The re-issue fixes a couple of the glitches, and added more foreign-language dubs/subs, but they kept the same bloody mono English track.

Well, May of 2024 has come and gone with no updates since nearly a year ago. Anyone hear anything about this release since? Doing a Google search for "Cinemuseum Fright Night 2" just brings me to old news and the initial Instagram post from January 2023.

I guess they are still looking for 35mm materials within Europe instead of locating who holds the OCN in the states or just using the 1080P transfer Paramount made.

In some case where there is a legal problem with releasing films, it can be overcome by using pre-existing materials which were approved before litigation set in. This is apparently why any subsequent US releases of FNp2 on any medium have come from the same old full-screen masters.

If C-M are looking for a decent print, then it had a much wider release in the UK than it did in the US, so a promising port of call would be the BFI, or checking with whoever took on the archives of Columbia Tristar UK.

I was at Nightmare Weekend and Tommy Lee Wallace talked about Fright Night Part 2 coming out in 4K from the UK next year.

a friend gifted me the spanish BR, and I was fearing the worse since my experience with Spanish BRs have been from mediocre to terrible, but this one looked fine, and man oh man, this movie surprised me! I never was a big fan of the first part despite being an 80s kid, but this movie in its scale and style and ambitions, its perfect. The visuals, the acting, directing, pacing, music, everything its sensational. IMO a couple of levels above the first part.

Hopefully we'll have a 4k release this year from the UK, as the director said, because I watched it a week ago, and I still cannot get it out of my head
