Default For those of you who haven't made the jump to FOREIGN films ... Why?

Here is my trajectory with my collection, on a personal note. Back on Feb 26 of this year, my collection consisted of mainly some odd horror films: the universal monster's collection, with some classics: rosemary's baby and dress to kill, along with my looney tunes collection, my laika collection and my older classics: wizard of oz, the searchers.

At that time, I had maybe 50 movies in my collection and probably no real direction as to what I wanted to do with my collection. I was buying some boutique label things: I had little darlings, beastmaster, from VS. I had American Werewolf in London and American Gigolo from Arrow, but found it increasingly difficult to find movies to collect.

Then, I had this thought: I had previously purchased and watched Two Days, One Night from criterion and thoroughly enjoyed it, and my thought was to increase my foreign movie collection. At this time, I had remembered that after I had enjoyed Two Days, One Night that I had searched the internet for other films like that, and I had remembered a film called: Hold Me Tight from Kino Lorber. So, with that in mind, I purchased a copy of it and watched it. From that movie, which I freaking loved, I learned about the actress Vicky Krieps and I decided to buy a Corsage on march 12 of this year along with Bergman Island.

I watched Corsage and it blew me away, and so I immediately began to look for more foreign films. One of my first purchases after that was that I blind bought 19 movies from Kino Lorber's World Cinema. Of that group it included two films: Happy Times and The Fairy, both of which knocked my socks off.

The short of it is that I sudden went from having 50 or less films, to over 250 movies and 80% of them being foreign movies as I suddenly became aware of a different kind of cinema that I wasn't used to. I am now really excited by the prospects of movies.

Some of the directors that I've learned about are:

Jessica Hausner
Jafar Panahi
Pablo Larraín
Pedro Almodóvar
Christian Petzold

Among others.
