USA Eaten Alive (Tobe Hooper) coming from Arrow

Eaten Alive Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Quote:
US Release Date: 28th July 2015
Region: A+B/1+2
Format: Dual Format Blu-ray + DVD
Starring: Robert Englund, Neville Brand, Mel Ferrer, Carolyn Jones, Marilyn Burns,William Finley
Directed by: Tobe Hooper

MEET THE MANIAC & HIS FRIEND.

Nearly a decade before he donned Freddy Kruger’s famous red and green sweater, horror icon Robert Englund delivered a supremely sleazy performance in Eaten Alive – another essay in taut Southern terror from Tobe Hooper, director of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Deep in the Louisiana bayou sits the ramshackle Starlight Hotel, destination of choice for those who like to check in but not check out! Presided over by the bumbling, mumbling Judd (and his pet croc which he keeps in a large pond out front), the patron of this particular establishment may seem like a good-natured ol’ Southern gent – but he has a mean temper on him, and a mighty large scythe to boot…

Oozing atmosphere from its every pore (the entire film was shot on a sound-stage at the famous Raleigh Studios, which lends it a queasy, claustrophobic feel) Eaten Alive matches The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for sheer insanity – and even draughts in Chain Saw star Marilyn Burns as the terrorised woman-in-peril, alongside William Finley and Mel Ferrer.

- High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentations

The commentary and four featurettes comprised the extras on the Dark Sky disc, so assumedly the 'more to be announced' refers to whatever new material Arrow are commissioning (in addition to the Hooper intro/interview). An overview of Neville Brand's filmography would be most welcome, as he was one of the great unsung oddball character actors.

Yeah I'm also hoping they add a Neville Brand tribute of sorts, but then sometimes these 'more to be announced!' claims don't amount to anything. Hope I'm wrong of course.

Hopefully it will come with the original poster art on the reverse side as did Mark of the Devil and Day of Anger.

I've been waiting for this one. I can't wait to see the good job Arrow will do with it's new 2K and proper encoding! We already know the extras are nice, but I'm waiting to hear the "More to be announced!" part...

Shame about the delay, but thank God that artwork won over the old UK VHS one.

August 25? That might mean that Blood Rage (scheduled the same day) is going to be delayed.

They say they need additional work on the master, why would that affect Blood Rage?

I'd rather Arrow take their time on Eaten Alive's master! I know all home video releases have been in ruff shape. I love how Arrow puts quality first these days! That's why I don't mind spending a bit more on them.

The delay works in my favor as it was too close to Contamination's release date. I can only stomach buying US Arrow title every so often and it helps when they're spaced out a bit. Blood Rage and Eat Alive will have to fight for my money, but I will be getting both in due time
