In a surprise bit of news, Alain Robak's horror BABY BLOOD is being released on October 6th 2025 by Studio Canal as part of their Cult Classics label.
According to the BBFC website, it'll be uncut. https://hmv.com/store/film-tv/4k-ult...ray/baby-blood Description Yanka (Emmanuelle Escourrou) works for a traveling circus with her abusive husband. When the circus' new leopard suffers a sudden violent death, a parasitic creature bursts out of the animal's body and crawls up into Yanka's uterus. The parasite demands that Yanka brings it blood, so that it can feed and grow. Soon, Yanka is a killer on the run as she hunts down victims for her new 'baby'. With incredible special effects and boundary-pushing gore, Baby Blood is one of the most underrated body horror films of all time. Region Code: Region A,B,C Duration: 88 minutes Original Language: French Subtitles: English Extras: Interactive Menu Bonus Footage Commentary: Lee Gambin (film historian) and Jarret Gahan (film critic); Alain Robak and Emmanuelle Escourrou Interviews: Alain Robak (director); Emmanuelle Escourrou (actor); Dernard Déchet (cinematographer); Jean-François Gallotte (actor); Christian Sinniger (actor) 4 art cards The Concepts Behind French Horror 'Baby Blood' With Kim Newman Trailers Last edited by BigNickUK; 07-29-2025 at 04:45 PM. |

In the database:
![]() It seems like this will be a single-disc release with a separate Blu-ray release. There's no back cover yet, but the Kino is 4K SDR, although I don't remember if any discs from Canal have been 4K SDR, outside of specific exceptions like The Virgin Suicides being SDR in an HDR container. I don't know the film, but apparently the [Show spoiler] is voiced by [Show spoiler] in the English dub track. If that's not included, no big deal, but it would be fun to sample the dub for that after seeing the film.Interestingly, I can't find any evidence of a French release, yet. But I'm pleased with the selection of extras, including the commentary with Robak and Escourrou. |

I have strong memories of this film, in my opinion it's very solid and there is a nice slate of extras on this disc too, I'll be happy to get this |

I've just seen that Canal is also doing The Hellbenders on the same day, but apparently only on Blu-ray:
![]() That was a title also licensed from Canal and released in 4K SDR by Kino, albeit on a double-feature disc: ![]() so perhaps this bolsters the idea that Canal have added some kind of HDR grade to Baby Blood. |

It looks like it, the Kino has a StudioCanal logo on the back cover. I just don't believe that Canal themselves have released any 4K UHD discs without HDR, so I'm wondering if they've done an HDR grade in the year since the Kino edition.
