Default Ronda Rousey biopic starring...Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey to Star in Film Based on Her Autobiography
Quote:
Following her dominating win Saturday night in Brazil, where she knocked out Bethe Correia in 34 seconds, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is making moves for her film career, and this latest project hits close to home.

Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to Rousey’s New York Times bestselling autobiography “My Fight/Your Fight,” with Rousey playing herself.

Mark Bomback on board to adapt the book, while Mary Parent is producing along with Rousey, with Bomback serving as exec producer.

“It’s a real honor to be a part of bringing Ronda’s incredible story to the bigscreen,” Parent said.

Written by Rousey with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz, “My Fight/Your Fight” is an inspirational story celebrating the accomplishments of Rousey, who faced extraordinary challenges on her path to glory. The book was published in spring by Regan Arts.

No date has been set yet on when the project will go into production as Bomback has just begun adapting the book. Rousey is expected to fight one more time before the end of the year and will then shoot the Pete Berg-directed action pic “Mile 22″ in January.

It’s not very often that a notable individual stars in her own biopic, but Rousey is one of those rare cases of an athlete who has seamlessly transitioned from fighting in the Octagon to appearing on screen in such films as “The Expendables 3,” “Furious 7″ and most recently, “Entourage,” in which she also appeared as herself.

From appearing in films and penning New York Times bestsellers to endorsement deals with Reebok, Buffalo Jeans and DraftKings, Rousey’s brand outside the ring has continued to expand over the past few years.

Insiders say that Rousey showed interest in appearing in the film and wanted to be sure Paramount was on board as soon as the rights to the book were put on the market. Paramount execs were impressed by her ability to balance a film career while staying in top fighting shape.

Ever since breaking out in “Expendables 3,” Rousey has made it clear that she does not discuss outside business while training. With the fight behind her, she can now develop the project with Bomback in a way she feels will paint the best portrait of her life.

Besides “Mile 22,” Rousey is also attached to Warner Bros. action pic “The Athena Project.” She is repped by WME and attorney Dave Feldman.

Bomback’s recent credits include “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and “The Wolverine.” He most recently penned “War of the Planet of the Apes,” due out in 2017. Prior to that, he wrote “Unstoppable.” He is represented by WME and Anonymous Content.

Parent’s recent credits include “Godzilla” and “Pacific Rim.”

well she's gotta do something. I imagine that not having anybody worth fighting might get a bit frustrating.

If her performance in Furious 7 was anything to go by, I predict an Academy Award for Ms. Rousey in the near future!

She could always fight Cyborg but she won't. Probably because her and Dana White know that if she fights her and loses, that's it. It's over. She is becoming the Flyod Mayweather of MMA. Will only fight people she knows she can beat.

Cyborg is in the next weight class higher, and Dana White has already said that as soon as she makes weight, it's on.

Maybe Rousey will give up waiting, eat a couple donuts, and say bring it on.

Actually I have no idea how UFC treats weight classes, so I'm not sure how that would work. But Rousey has to do something.

She could obliterate Cyborg though, so even that may not be enough.

Her recent loss goes to show that professional athletes have vulnerabilities like anyone else. The Tyson analogy was pretty valid as both fighters pretty much sailed through the earlier opponents on their reputations of having a killer instinct in the ring, which arguably gave them a huge psychological edge going into the fight. It was the same with Tiger Woods going into Sunday of a major with the lead intact; his opponents would fall apart under pressure and hand him the championship. But now that the shield of invincibility has been cracked, she's definitely going to lose some hype, marketing, and draw power. But she's still a fantastic fighter and there's no denying it takes a lot of natural talent, hard work, adaptability and what not to rise to the top of the ranks in any sport.

You don't think people can be into more than one thing in life?

I know plenty of people that are heavily into both sports and comics for example. Two things lot of people are still shocked by when they meet "comic geeks" that know their s*** when it comes to sports or at least their favorite.

Jon Jones on teammate, new UFC champ Holly Holm: GOAT of women's combat sports

Holly Holm has been showered with praise since she pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. One of the biggest compliments has come from a famous teammate: Jon Jones.

Fellow fighters, athletes and celebrities have all commented on the result and Holm’s (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) spectacular performance that ended when she finished now-ex-champ Ronda Rousey (12-1) with a second-round head-kick knockout to capture the UFC women’s bantamweight title. Few, though, have publicly shown as much pride in her achievement as former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC), who is a friend of Holm and teammate at Team Jackson-Winkeljohn in Albuquerque, N.M.

Holm’s victory over Rousey in this past Saturday’s UFC 193 pay-per-view headliner made her the first fighter to win major MMA and boxing titles. Prior to her loss, Rousey was often lauded as the world’s best female combat athlete, but Jones said Holm should be the one with the label.

“In my opinion Holly Holm is already the G.O.A.T. of women’s combat sports,” Jones wrote on Facebook. “She was considered the greatest female boxer to ever compete in the sport and now she has defeated the greatest female mixed martial arts fighter to date. Her accolades are absolutely unheard of, but that’s not what makes me such a fan of Holly. It’s the way she carries herself outside of the bright lights and the arenas.”

Jones said Holm’s fighting skill isn’t the only reason she’s found such tremendous success. Her personality outside of competition has also helped her, he said, because Holm’s humility and selflessness on a daily basis are the traits of a true champion.

“I know the MMA community doesn’t really know Holly yet, so let me be the first to tell you: She is the most classy and down to earth athlete I’ve ever had the pleasure to be around,” Jones wrote. “She is the long time pride of Albuquerque, New Mexico not only because the way she competes, but the way she treats each and every individual that has the opportunity of meeting her.

“This actually can be a problem at times, a simple trip for a gallon of milk to the grocery store could take her an easy 45 minutes and she doesn’t even mind haha. If you’re impressed by Holly’s talent, wait until you get an understanding of what type of character she possesses; it is truly world class. She is a role model that you would love to have your daughter’s look up to. I’m so honored to be able to call her a teammate and most importantly a friend.”

Agree 100%

Regards,

Well, I'm a huge fan of both, I don't see your point. I've been following MMA since the early days of UFC and PrideFC all the way until now and I've also found time to watch many great films. It seems impossible I know, but I somehow pulled it off.
