Default Minecraft PS5 - October 22 2024

https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/arti...playstation-5-

Quote:
Release date: Minecraft for PlayStation®5
The native PS5® version of Minecraft is coming soon!

Earlier this year, we released a preview version of Minecraft for PlayStation®5. Thanks to your feedback and some eager tinkering, the native PS5® version of Minecraft is launching on October 22!

That’s right! In a little over a month, you’ll be able to play the release version of Minecraft for PS5®, optimized to take advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware. This means your game will have a greater render distance while still being 4k resolution and 60 fps, allowing you to take in even more frames and pixels while running from Endermen in the Overworld. Delightful!

Playing this release version also means you will get to cross-play with friends across all Bedrock devices and access the Minecraft Store, where you can spend your Minecraft tokens on worlds, add-ons, skin packs, and more exciting community-made content.

How to get Minecraft for PlayStation®5
If you already have Minecraft for PS4®, you will be able to get the PS5® native version for free. Just access the PlayStation® Store via your PS5® (ensuring that you’re logged in) and claim your digital copy. Of course, if you don’t own any version of Minecraft for PlayStation®, you can purchase a copy via the PlayStation® Store or at your closest retailer of video games.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go back to designing a TNT-based contraption that will really put that framerate to the test next month.

Wonder if it will be a disc or a download code in a box like the Switch version.

Don't know for sure yet, but the PS4 version of Minecraft from several years back is fully on disc. I've pre-ordered a copy of the PS5 release, so I'll let you know (if I remember to follow up here by October, lol).

That is cool MS is willing to put their major property onto PS5's console too. I wish they would do that for some other games too. Starfield is still exclusively with XBox SX, but having played it on PC, I don't mind as it's not of of Bethesda's best.

Minecraft, I played the PS4 version years ago. A creative game, which is good.
Will be interesting to see how the graphics have developed over the years.

In the final game case, usually they'll put a notice on the cover saying, "Digital download required to play" if it's a disc requiring internet, or "Digital code only, no disc". I guess you get a nice case in that situation, rather than no collectible at all.

Hopefully they offer it on disc for the Minecraft fans on PS5.

Just give me Halo, Forza Horizon, and Gears. That would be plenty from MS for me. Oh, and ports of the two Ori games would be nice as well. Weird that hasnt happened yet.

In the future it could potentially happen if MS leaves the Xbox console war. As long as they're in it though, they'd be wise to keep their exclusives for the gamers who are solely dedicated to Xbox and don't have a PS, if they don't want a huge fallout IMO.

I'd really like Gears of War games on PS though.
Forza Horizon, finally played part 4 on PC and it runs great. They really optimized that one well for lower end PCs too. Haven't tried 5 yet.

Haven't made it out to pick up my copy yet, but can confirm... disc in the box.

I’m curious to see how the PS5 version of Minecraft stacks up, especially in terms of how good it looks on a 4K screen. I still have my old PS4 Minecraft disc somewhere, and it was fun, but I mostly play Minecraft on my laptop during breaks now since it’s easier to jump in and out of games. Honestly, I’m more into the creative side, building random stuff, testing contraptions, or just messing around with redstone.

When I don’t feel like booting up a full install, I’ve been going through some Minecraft-style games that run right in the browser. I found a bunch of decent ones through https://sites.google.com/site/unblockedgamesportal/ for unblocked games, which is actually great when you just want something chill on the side without setting up mods or save files.

Played the PS5 demo trial of Minecraft (they gave me 30 minutes) but I only needed 10 minutes to know it wasn't for me. It's a clever game, but the block graphics and platform aren't immersive IMO, compared to Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2. Those games look more fun and are more fun IMO, plus they let you see the player characters. That adds a lot more to the game IMO. Like controlling a miniature character in a way with 3rd person view.
1st person, it's just a camera view.

Saw the Minecraft Movie 3D. It was entertaining in a Napoleon Dynamite movie style. Now if Minecraft had that kind of more realistic style to the graphics, and playable characters in 3rd person, I'd be interested.
