Default Sony Blu Ray vs Panasonic

I have both players. Initial impression is that the Sony has poor gamma control and it is most evident in the movie "Kingdom of Heaven". The Panasonic has a better color palette and black control due to built in scaler. Sony seems to have slightly sharper picture though. Please post your impressions . Sony is available at Sony Style stores in malls. The store manager did not let me walk out of the store without purchasing an extended warranty. It is refundable though. Anyone have similar experiences?

What did he do, tie you up? If you save the money you would spend on extended warranties and put it in the bank to self insure yourself, you would be money ahead many times over. When they start pushing me to buy the extended warranty, I give them my new terms - give me the extended warranty for free or I walk and buy elsewhere.
