Default The Keep (1983)

I am surprised to find The Keep available on iTunes. I didn't think this had even made its way to DVD?

Has anybody watched the iTunes version? Looks like it is SD.

Paramount seems to be doing this lately. It's really frustrating. Little Darlings just became available on amazon prime and iTunes recently as well for the first time in years. HD as well. No dvd ever either.

I watched The Keep last year on Netflix - had wanted to see it for the bones of ten years (maybe even longer) after seeing a few minutes in a BBC Friday night horror black. They used to show a Kolchak episode and two movies I think.

I was a bit disappointed because it is a horror film - it is more a fantasy film.

I don’t remember MacKelkab being in it. What part did he play?

Paramount are doing what ? Do you releasing back catalogue titles?

How is that frustrating?

They are releasing back catalogue titles as STREAMING ONLY (at the moment). Yes, that is VERY frustrating for blu ray collectors.

I have worked with someone for years in getting a restored version out but no one, not even the director wants it.

I have it on iTunes. It's SD but in widescreen, doesn't look terrible. Definitely worth getting.

Okay now that you’ve explained it I see it was actually obvious what you meant.

Very understandable feeling.

This leaked earlier in the week as the artist listed his commissioned art for sale. Pretty stoked for it, if true. The question is will it be the theatrical or the never seen DC. I guess Paramount butchered the film which lead to Mann basically disown it.

Good news. Let's see. I know this picture has a very troubled history. But its Michael Mann and includes a who's who cast. I only have seen this movie as a little kid in the mid-80s on cable.... pretty sure it was the butchered theatrical version. Oddly enough, I also remember Leonard Nimoy talking about it on "Standby...Lights! Camera! Action!" on Nickelodeon. Ever since, I have had a bit of a fascination with it.

If this is coming to light, I really hope we get a proper presentation... DC version with any bits included to better flush out the storyline. Fingers crossed.

From what I used to know the extended cut was lost long ago except for some video tape transfers from the rough cut .
One can only hope ...

When I knew that Vinegar Syndrome was entering the fray releasing obscure and unreleased Paramount titles to Blu Ray and 4K--this was the first title that came to mind! Having seen a fan funded 4K release of "The KEEP" (an un-restored 35mm film print/ grindhouse style mind you) only stoked my anticipation of a future release to home video! Michael Kinsella III was just commissioned for a VHS/ Blu Ray release--this has to be part of the Black Friday pre-sale coming soon!

Trying to decide if it's worth the 4k UHD purchase on Vudu for $4. It's listed as Dolby vision online but wanted to confirm if anyone else has purchased the digital version in UHD. Didn't want to waste my money/time if it was a 4:3 labeled as UHD but actually just HD

That is the rental price. Yes it has DV and is the correct ratio 2.40
