Default Best of the Best (1989)

Credit goes to forum member/my pal Puffy for spotting this.

As most of you all know, I am an annoying British degenerate when it comes to Best of the Best. I'm obsessed with the first 2 films. Puffy spotted the news that Shamrock Media are releasing a new Best of the Best set in Germany.

I won't get too excited, as I don't know if it is a new transfer or the old transfer that was used on the UK set. I got the UK set on Friday after years of avoiding it, and I would say it was around a 15 to 20% improvement on the Sony DVD. 2 days later, and this is announced! I knew it would do some good getting the UK set haha.

No idea what Shamrock Media are like when it comes to transfers, or if they ever do new transfers or just use old ones. I have contacted them to ask.

Hopefully this will be a new transfer that will tide us over until a UK/US 4K UHD release.

Be interesting to see if it includes English subtitles.

Not holding out too much hope for this release. Shamrock are being really coy etc. Never a good sign.

Shamrock can be hit and miss in my limited experience. They've released some old school kung fu titles in decent prints, Jet Li's High Risk was decent but American Cyborg looked like it come from a VHS.

Yeah, that was the impression I got. I asked if it was a new transfer and they jusr replied 'info later'. Now, I don't know about everyone else, but if I was the label and it was a new transfer, I would be confirming it is a new transfer straight away to spread the word to get more sales.

This is looking like it will be an older transfer. Would be great if proven wrong, but that is what it seems like.

The wait for a really good release goes on.....

That means they upscaled an ex-Blockbuster Video rental tape, to be real most people who collect mediabooks won't notice. Also damn I didn't realize this was called Karate Tiger 4 somewhere.
