Germany Animals (Nabil Ben Yadir, Soufiane Chilah, mediabook)

Welcome to Belgium. Came by this and thought I was in for a treat after the first 30mins as it was beautifully made. Based on the horrific story of Ihsane Jarfi

[Show spoiler]
Once it moved to vertical mobile phone footage and the torture porn I had to turn it off. It had the same trigger as those early Russia/Ukraine torture videos. No different so I assume deliberate.

It was very well made up until then but I'm sure if the director had seen more than a handful of similar-themed films he could of handled the violence far better (ie flashbacks to childhood or whatever). How the **** he got Belgian tax payer funding with that script I have no idea. There must have been a massive queue of potential projects and I assume this won the funding due to the horror of the story and its picture of Belgian society.

Film is entirely in French from what I heard.

I may give it another look but it's highly unlikely.
