After being released from a juvenile detention center, Wellington finds himself alone and adrift on the streets of São Paulo, without any contact from his parents and lacking the resources to rebuild his life. He encounters Ronaldo, a mature man, who teaches him new ways of surviving. Gradually, their relationship turns into a conflicting passion.
This is the synopsis of Marcelo Caetano's sophomore film Baby, which is having its world premiere in competition at Cannes' Critics' Week, taking place from 15 to 23 May.
Marcelo Caetano was born in Belo Horizonte in 1982, and is based in São Paulo since 2004. He directed his first film Electric Body in 2017 and collaborated in more than 20 feature films as assistant director and casting director. Among them there are important titles such as Kleber Mendonça Filho's Bacurau and Aquarius, presented in the Cannes Competition. +
