United Kingdom Untitled Oasis Reunion Tour movie

Quote:
The group Oasis announced Thursday that a film will be produced as the band goes out on a reunion tour this year, created and produced by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders,” “Locke”) and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace (“Meet Me in the Bathroom”).

No information about the nature of the film was forthcoming, but the fact that Southern and Lovelace directed a documentary/concert film for LCD Soundsystem, “Shut Up and Play the Hits,” could point toward a similar hybrid format for the Oasis movie.

The Oasis project will be produced by Magna Studios, with Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley serving as producers and Marisa Clifford and Kate Shepherd as executive producers. It will be distributed by Sony Music Vision, with Krista Wegener of Sony Music Vision leading global sales.

The announcement said that no release date has been set for the film and there would be no further information about it released for the immediate future.

Some of the industry’s top cinematographers are getting involved in the current Oasis craze.

With the reunited band’s sellout gigs continuing across the U.K. — currently in the Gallagher brothers’ hometown of Manchester ahead of concerts in London later this month — Variety has learned that several A-list directors of photography have been behind the camera for an upcoming film about the tour.

Announced this year, the as-yet-unnamed feature is being produced by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the duo behind the LCD Soundsystem doc/concert film “Shut Up and Play the Hits.” It’s being produced by Magna Studios, recently launched by former Pulse execs Marissa Clifford and Davud Karbassioun.

Very little else is known about the film, which is being kept under a veil of secrecy, but Variety hears that both Robbie Ryan and Haris Zambarloukos have been shooting segments of the tour.

A two-time Oscar nominee, Ryan is known for his work with directors including Yorgos Lanthimos, Ken Loach, Andrea Arnold and Noah Boambach, with a list of credits that includes “Poor Things,” “The Favourite,” “I, Daniel Blake,” “Marriage Story” and “American Honey.”

Zambarloukos, meanwhile, is best known for his extensive work with Kenneth Branagh, such as on “Belfast,” “Thor” “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile,” but his other credits include Tim Burton’s recent “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and Ben Wheatley’s “The Meg 2: The Trench.” He previously united with Knight on his acclaimed “Locke,” starring Tom Hardy.

Attracting cinematographers of the caliber of Ryan and Zambarloukos is testament to the pulling power of Oasis, back in the limelight after 16 years apart. One of the biggest bands of the 1990s and famed for the fiery relationship between feuding brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, they split in 2009. The announcement of their reunion last year and a series of concerts sparked a major online stampede for tickets, with the tour subsequently expanded to North America.

Well this is good news for those of us unable to get tickets, a runner up prize i guess. Safe to say won't see anything until the tour is over, if it lasts more than a few more dates. They seem to be doing well at the moment lol.
