The worldwide best-selling game franchise Fallout is headed to television via Prime Video. Following months of dealmaking, Amazon Studios has licensed the rights to the games for Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to develop a TV adaptation, which has received a series commitment.
This marks the first major project to come out of Westworld creators/executive producers big overall deal with Amazon Studios. The duos Kilter Films is producing Fallout alongside Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.
The world of Fallout is one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. In Fallout, the harshness of the wasteland is set against the previous generations utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It is serious in tone, yet sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies. -Deadline
Nice! So much they can do by bringing in the different factions. I wonder if they will pick a setting from the game or something new. I’d like to see the capital wasteland but thats because fallout 3 was the one i played the most.
Jonathon Nolan to direct pilot. This show has so much potential. I hope they don't indulge themselves with an overly cerebral, convoluted story structure like Westworld. That is not required here....
CULVER CITY, California—October 23, 2023 —Today, Prime Video announced its highly anticipated new series, Fallout, will premiere April 12, 2024.
Fans were treated to this special announcement on the 26th anniversary of FalloutDay, an annual celebration of all things dedicated to the award-winning and best-selling video game franchise. In addition, Amazon Studios launched the series’ official social channels to engage passionate fans across the globe. They debuted with an interactive Pip-Boy interface graphic that embedded the release date within the scrolling text to further delight and surprise fans and audiences worldwide.
Set in the future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles and world of Fallout, the series is an original story based on Fallout that will be part of the canon of the games. The series comes from Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of Westworld. It will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The series cast includes Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), Aaron Moten (Emancipation), Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Frances Turner (The Boys), Dave Register (Heightened), Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Ant-Man), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time).
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive produce via Kilter Films under their Amazon overall deal. Athena Wickham of Kilter Films also executive produces along with Todd Howard for Bethesda Game Studios and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks. Amazon and Kilter Films produce in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Nolan directed the first three episodes of the epic series.

fans of the games should know that everything in the series is officially part of Fallout lore, and Bethesda (developer of the video games) was careful to make sure the scripts could coexist with previous storylines from the gaming titles
