Dawn of the Discs is pure garbage, stop using them as a source. While Salem's Lot is indeed coming from Arrow, we don't know yet whether it'll be 4K or not. Cliff Macmillan said on a recent podcast that a major title will be Blu-ray only, and many believe he's referring to Salem's Lot.

Yeah, the first postcard cropped up a few weeks ago. The only uncertainty is whether it'll be a BD or a UHD. Cliff recently said Arrow would be releasing a popular title on Blu-ray only and that he anticipates there'll be some complaints. Seems everybody's designated Salem's Lot as the likeliest candidate (I guess cause it's a TV mini-series?), but hopefully that's not the case. And it's not like Arrow haven't released TV films on UHD previously. See: Psycho IV and The Great Escape II.

Heyy can’t say I didn’t try. This was actually my first attempt at starting an announcement thread.

I hope I don't discourage you then . I just wouldn't use Dawn as a source for such threads. Most of the time they're just lifting stuff from this forum without any credit, and sometimes they they just get stuff flat-out wrong. Like recently someone on here thought Arrow's October hint could be for Prince of Darkness, and Dawn saw that and immediately made a "Coming Soon to 4K UHD from Arrow" post about it, which soon got completely shut down by Arrow producer James Flower.

Fingers crossed for the original 2-part mini-series version in 1.33:1, and the theatrical cut in 1.85:1.

If we get those, I wouldn't be too put out if it was 1080p only, or only 1 version in 4K. Etc.

What annoys me is that the existing Blu-ray isn't one of the original cuts, but a revisionist "long" movie version.

I guess I'll be the "first" to complain, but I hope it isn't Salem's Lot, which should be a relatively easy upgrade to 4K UHD assuming the proper elements are available and can be located. I think if Arrow did another Blu-ray, it would have to be quite loaded with extras and if it is, the sales would just convince WB to find the elements (again, assuming they exist) and do their own 4K UHD release.

But, I don't know the history of this one, so perhaps it's complicated by something.

Yeah same and some of the edits they’ve made to condense it to one film are wrong. For instance that straight from Ralphie biting Danny to Straker leaving the house should not be there. Ralphie biting Danny was meant to fade to black followed by a straight cut to Straker leaving the house and part of the reason I know this is cause the music is part of the segue. It’d be nice if this was 4K but if it’s a regular BD that not only includes both versions but presents the longer version in its proper miniseries form I’d be all over that!

Yes, it was cut to have mini-cliffhangers or keep-watching teasers at ad breaks, and a bigger one at the end of part 1. All that is lost in the currently available Blu-ray.

This would be awesome, even if it was only Blu ray.

I just remembered these UK VHS ads. Oh my days.

I'd love to see Arrow do a WB King mini-series set.

Forum member dwk was the first person in the original Salem’s Lot thread to say he thinks this is the BD-only title. He never explained his reasoning. From there, I’ve only seen other people saying “if this is the BD-only title…”, not “Yes, I agree this will be that title” or whatever. I take it you and RevolverOcelScott also think this? I guess that could be said to be “many”, sure.

Why is this a battle you're picking?

Quick, non-intensive search:

So there's 3 people for you without me searching through the Youtube comments and the entire 2 Arrow Threads. It's a big title, the only title in all the incljuded cards that would fit it. No one wants it to be blu, but it is a big title, and it'd be a big deal.
