Default Shelby Oaks (2025)

Quote:
Paper Street Pictures (The Pale Door) has set YouTuber Chris Stuckmann to write and direct mystery horror movie Shelby Oaks about a group of missing paranormal investigators.

The proiect will chart the story of a fictional mid-2000’s U.S. paranormal investigative team called The Paranormal Paranoids. Multiple found footage videos have surfaced online in recent months which have prompted horror and ARG (Alternate Reality Game) fans to speculate about the veracity of the case and the whereabouts of the investigators. One video uploaded last week appeared to show the abduction of one of the group, known as Riley.

AMP International will handle world sales and are launching the film to buyers this month. Production is slated to begin in late 2021 in Ohio.-Deadline

Not a massive fan of the guy’s reviews, but at least he’s putting his money where his mouth is and hope for the best.

I’m excited for Chris because he does have great taste in horror but I’m surprised he’s taking on found footage as his first major film, given how much he has bashed the genre over the years, including calling it a dead genre.

I've been a fan of Chris for years, but recently he looks like he doesn't care anymore. I think he admitted this once or twice. Or at least, he implied it. Also I heard stories about Chris, but Chris never gave his side of the story. So I don't know. In my opinion, sounds like he is not the most positive guy to be around with. Maybe that's not fair to say. Some people are just born like that, but yeah. I can understand why he rubs people the wrong way.

I wonder if he will review his own movie as if someone else directed it.

He’s spoken about his trauma from leaving the Jehovah Witnesses so I would extend him some empathy as it comes to that. However, just from Reddit and a few other forums, I’ve heard he’s a bit bitter about things not panning out after his affiliation with a certain YouTube group/channel.

I'm aware that he is salty about religion or whatever, but haven't seen the video. Probably will to get a better understanding of him, just to be fair. Bu I don't know. I don't think I can relate. I grew up Christian, but I'm not religious. Also not a fan of Jehovah Witnesses. I can be harsher than that, but don't want to offend anyone here.

But yeah, there is even a whole article out there on the internet where FuryTheFilmFan explains why he hates Stuckmann. Because FuryTheFilmFan liked Stuckmann so much that he let him stay over at his place in New York for awhile. But then things went downhill between them. Sounded like Stuckmann was extremely rude or something. I even remember the videos they posted together, but were deleted afterwards.

Because Found Footage is extremely cheap to make.

Living with Jehovah’s Witnesses sounds like it could be it’s own type of horror.

I usually find his reviews to be superficial, so I don't expect this to have important themes or deep characters, but it might be enjoyable.

I actually find him insufferable. But it'll be interesting to see him try his hand at what he judges harshly.

I know I've been talking shit about Chris lately, but happy for him. He got to do what he always wanted to do and made it happen. I respect that.

Happy for Stuckmann evolving and getting a chance to break through, no matter how small the project. Been following his channel for close to a decade now and you can tell how passionate he is (monotone voice or otherwise) about filmmaking and what works in certain genres versus what doesn’t work. My opinions about movies are very close to his, so I value the criticism he provides for both the good and the below average films.

I’m sure he’ll even tell his channel followers to be as honest and critical of their opinions about his debut as they can, in hopes of personally improving as a writer/director/editor.
