Good disc, but comparing the Atmos tracks, I think this one is a bit more robust. But both are still do the job.

Oh, and I get to see him perform live this Friday night. Should be cool to hear some Dune music live in addition to his classics.

Also: I just saw but where is this available as a 4k disc? Live in Prague is only available on blu

Also: I just read the article, nice to see this hit 4k. I'm guessing it's the same Atmos track however.

Seeing him next week for my second time. Amazing concert!

Was this filmed in 4K? The current Blu-ray is a demo disc, and I'm quite happy with it.

I was waiting for this news for years!

Yes, it was film natively on 4k (using Arri Alexa cameras).

8 years ago I got in touch with the Director of the concert - Tim van Someren (reaaaally nice fellow, btw ), who told me, and I quote:

November 2016:
Hans has been personally going through all of the edits of the music, which has been very useful, but quite slow, as you might imagine with his busy schedule.
We are hoping to finish editing this month and then we have to grade, master, publish etc.

January 2017:
We have started the conform but the HDR grade will be very time consuming, and then the DVD production process takes a very long time.

I personally saw it in theaters in late 2017. It was promoted as HDR 4K SPECIAL FOR CINEMAS

So, in short - the 4K HDR master has been ready for years and was waiting for a home release.

Can't wait!

Thanks for the info.

This is the same studio that released Queen Rock Montreal and that was a clusterf***, so I'll wait and see how this turns out.

How much better can it honestly get? The blu ray atmos already sounds incredible.

I was close to ordering this on Wednesday as Blu-ray. I'll take it this 4K instead. Saw him live some years back and it was mesmerizing. Allways wanted this on disc.

It can get better by them making an updated 4K with his latest concert tour. We went last night and it was pretty good. I think his music for Dune is some of his career best, so it was neat to hear that live, which none of the previous blu's/4k's have.

I think Live in Prague is good, but not reference or even the best Atmos. For me, that belongs to Live at Hollywood in Vienna which seems to me has a better surround and ceiling field. Big minus on that concert is that Zimmer doesn't perform with them. My is he lively with a very high energy band and orchestra. And his James Bond theme song was pretty damn cool, it had a bit of the classic version of Dr. No to the latest way the theme song sounds.

Thanks I'll have to check that out. I've yet to watch it. I really want a new one, because the music in Dune Part 2 was epic. Part 1's music never grabbed me like part 2 did.

Especially the powerful ending, Lisan al Gaib. And the Atreides theme is most climactic in Only I will remain. Of course I have the movie, and it is powerful and beautiful in the movie. But a Zimmer concert is not quite complete for me without one of them. I watched some snippets of the one you showed me, I definitely prefer prague.

This got delayed until the summer time. At least from what I heard with regards to getting review copies. A buddy texted me that it had been pushed back to either May or June.

The visuals were never the highlight for me. I'll just hang onto my blu copy.

Yeah, I wish they'd release a new concert. I saw him earlier this week and it was tremendous - much more polished than when I saw him in 2017. The James Bond suite was brilliant.

Lame release. They could have released a new concert that would have included No Time To Die and Dune musics.

Same. I just had bought the Blu-ray version because of its praised atmos track. Cool to see a 4K release though.

UGH - it appears there is NO HDR on the disc. The Kaleidescape version is 4K HDR, but Mercury Studios are handicapping the disc releases majorly.

https://www.kaleidescape.com/movie-s...in-prague-2016 76.2 GB

EDIT - I take this back - look at the Steven Wilson review posted, no HDR. It is 4K HDR on Kaleidescape. I wish I hadn't ordered it, because I got the Peter Gabriel release for Back to Front and it's 4K SDR same audio options as the Blu-ray and I couldn't tell the difference between the two. HDR would have made this a worthwhile release, it will likely be SDR so I will not be pre-ordering this one.

I wasn't familiar with him until the 4k pre-order came up, so I'm really looking forward to experiencing his work and performances.

I wish I had a better audio system, although it's not bad as it's an older Bose 5.1

I'd love to catch his performance here in the states. It doesn't look like he has anything planned in the US for the next 2 years sadly.

Based on what others have said in this thread, his better/newer work will hopefully be coming to 4k soon too.

Another guy I've become very intrigued by, and would also love to catch a live show is Andre Rieu - they look like absolutely incredible performances!

I hope he puts out his concerts in 4k soon too.

Anyone have suggestions of others like Hans & Andre in this category of incredible orchestra audio with very visual performances?
