Game publisher Acclaim returns with focus on indie studios and classics

Originally founded in 1987, the newly reborn Acclaim will support independent developers, as well as “reignite” classic franchises, providing resources such as funding, marketing, and public relations supports to give independent studios the opportunity to bring their games to a wider audience.

“It’s an absolute honor and pleasure to be leading the charge in bringing Acclaim back to the forefront of the games industry,” said Josef in a press release. “We’re fortunate that we have an extremely talented team and that we’ve already signed some incredible indie titles, which we’ll be revealing soon.”

I'd like to see them turn out like Atari did but I don't have high hopes. I'd have to imagine any of the worthwhile IP are gobbled up elsewhere at this point.

But I'm all for a company to come in and make smaller/cheaper arcadey sports games and hope this is something they leverage.
