Default HDMI problem with Sony Bravia KDL-32M3000

OK here is my problem I am having and if anyone could offer any assistance I would be forever in your debt because I am pulling my hair out right now.

I just picked up a 32" Sony Bravia LCD (KDL-32M3000) for Christmas. I hooked my Sony BDP-300 up to it. I have no receiver. The BD player is hooked straight to the TV via HDMI.

And here is my problem...everytime I boot the player up I get this loud static noise where I have to turn or mute the TV speakers. Now everytime I put in and load a DVD or BD disc (does not matter) the static disappears and all you hear is the correct disc audio. Now I can take that DVD or BD disc out and let the player sit idle and it is fine with no static sound, even with no disc in it. So I power the player down and turn it back on and I hear that screeching wall of static once again until I put a disc in it.

This does not make sense! Almost like there is no audio handshake (keep in mind the video works flawless) upon bootup until I put a disc in and then the audio issue disappears or as I say syncs up with the disc.

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this or am I missing something in the BDP-300 menus? It did not matter if I set all the audio settings to PCM Stereo downmix or if I made them Dolby and DTS audio out. I have the HDMI audio on Auto and I have the 2 channel setup, not the 5.1.

I have tried a different HDMI cable with the same results. It has to be a TV problem because the 26" Toshiba branded TV I had prior to this was hooked up the same way and there were no problems whatsoever.

Again any advice in my situation here or menu setup help would be greatly appreciated!

Eric
