Hi guys, maybe you can help me, Im connecting my samsung bd-up5000 to my benq pe7700 projector through a hdmi cable and apperantly they cant communicate each other, on the lower right hand corner it tells me Searching..(1080i X 60) and then goes blank and tries to search again. the HDMI input and output both from the Projector and the Bluray player are working fine, tested them out with different components and both of them are working excellent but not with each other. please help, going crazy.

Hmm, the only thing I can tell you is that I've heard nothing bad bad stuff on that Samsung. I know that's not much in the way of help. All I can think of is for you to make sure it's at the latest firmware version. If I understood you right, the Samsung will output to another video display i.e. a plasma/lcd panel without problems?
Can you lock the Samsung to output only 1080i/60 since that appears to be what the BenQ is looking for? Also, are you running the HDMI thru an AVR that's possibly trying to change the signal to something other than 1080i/60? You might also try the projector forums over at AVS to see if anybody there has the same set-up. That part of AVS is still helpful. |

Another thought - make sure that you are not trying to output 24 fps from the Samsung if the BenQ won't accept that.
I was thinking that possibly when you connect the Sammy to say an LCD panel to see if it's working, it would appear to be ok if the LCD accepted 1080/24 but be fouled up when you go back to the BenQ. |

What are you connecting to the projector via HDMI that will allow you to get a picture? Whatever that is, I would connect the Sammy to a different display so you can see what you're doing, and configure it to output the same type of signal that seems to be working on the projector. Also you should be able to verify what kind of signal that the Sammy is outputting. If you can set that to 1080i, then hook it back up to the projector you should have a picture since the BenQ seems to be searching for a 1080i/60 signal.
Weird problem for sure. When I get a chance I'll see if I can find your projector manual on-line and take a look. Just on the off chance that it's something really simple, have you tried using a different HDMI cable? |

I managed to find your projector manual online and took a look at it, but it looks like this projector is pretty straight forward so not likely that the problem is there. It simply remembers what signal it was receiving last thru the HDMI port and looks for that, in your case it was 1080i/60. About the only thing I can think to try on the projector side would be to press the HDMI source select button on the remote while it's searching for the signal which might help it find one.
I think the best bet would be to connect the BD player to another display that will accept 720p and set the Samsung to output at a max resolution of 720p. Then hook it back up to the projector and see what you get. If the projector doesn't find the signal that way, then I'm pretty much out of ideas, but would lean towards there being some strange handshaking issue between the pj and the player. I noticed while I was looking for the manual that there are firmware updates for the projector that are available from BenQ. Are you using the latest one? |

Yes thats what I also figured that is the firmware, I connected through component output and there is no problem but the hdmi is the one with the issue. Ill see if I can get it with the latest firmware. The weird thing is that I connect my hidef receiver to the pj through HDMI and there is no problem Im getting 1080i and 720p x 60 with no problem, the firmware would be my last option like you said, thanks for your input alaskadon, I really appreciate it.
