Default Lake Nowhere (Limited Edition)

From the vaults of the golden age of slasher films comes LAKE NOWHERE, a raucous, bloody romp which resurrects the thrill of gory midnight movies for an hour-long plunge into the depths of horror. Inspired by the dusty days of VHS, LAKE NOWHERE is preceded by original trailers & commercials, replicating the experience of watching a long lost bootleg tape.

When a group of friends arrive at a desolate lakeside cabin, they are stalked and murdered by a Masked Maniac, whose lust for blood transcends our world. This age-old tale of senseless slaughter quickly spirals into the realm of supernatural horror and classic monster movies, as we learn the true power that lies within LAKE NOWHERE.

Release Date: August 16, 2016

Special Features:

Cast audio commentary
Filmmaker audio commentary
Behind-the-Scenes Featurette - 30 minutes
Three Harvest Man Teasers
Theatrical and teaser trailers for Lake Nowhere

$22.95 at BrinkVision. Each purchase comes with a signed poster from cast and crew.

I picked mine up from Bull Moose for $17.97.

This movie was shot in six days and barely runs over 50 minutes, and the first 6 minutes are dedicated to a fake commercial and two trailers. The commercial and trailers are actually pretty funny. The trailer for the giallo being my favorite.

The whole movie is shot to make it look like it was recorded to a bootleg VHS. There's audio skips, parts where the previous recorded video is still there, degradation, and plenty of other glitches. It's a little overdone in the beginning, but it settles down once the movie starts picking up. Overall it's a nice touch.

The plot is as basic as it comes and is nothing more than setup for these young adults to be hacked to pieces. There's some pretty decent kills throughout though. It's really a pretty solid 80's slasher homage with a slight supernatural element. Definitely worth a watch, but the price is a little steep for the runtime and overall package you get.

I'll have to think about this one, it sounds like it could be fun but there is so much coming out.

Decided to give this a try and ordered a copy. Everything is labeled a "throwback" these days, but this one looks legit. Still a little too expensive for it's running time, i think.

It's a fun little slasher throwback with a good heart...endearing ensemble cast, lots of gore, funny without relying on satirical humor, different ending...downsides, the killer is laughably amateurish and un-scary and the kills are pretty unoriginal. Definitely not for every slasher lover, but a worth a shot to give these guys more than a single paycheques budget for their next feature.

While this looks like it could be fun, I can't justify spending the initial asking price for a film that doesn't last any longer than some television episodes. I'll consider it if it ever hits $10 or less.

It's only $15.79 on amazon and is a Limited release. Go ahead and grab that last copy they have...the indie community will thank you for it.

Took a gamble and bought this at BB for $14, with a price match from Walmart.

Wow, that trailer...
Easily the most convincing looking "lost 70's or 80's film" fake I've ever seen. They drilled it, from the car to the clothes and hairstyles. Tempted to check it now. Is the rest as good as the trailer?

The trailer has me intrigued, but reactions have been mixed. I'd love to see a review on this site.

As much as the 70's through early 80's are my favourite horror period, recent attempts to make genre movies in that style don't always work for me. The Sleeper is an absolute mess and House of the Devil goes nowhere for two thirds of the running time. The Town that Dreaded Sundown had a throwback vibe that I totally dug, but it obviously had a decent budget. Filmmakers were generally more successful at making good horror on small budgets 40 years ago than they are today.

I really liked this! Took me back to my childhood. Sure it's hokey and gimmicky, but it's great fun for horror fans. Fender Bender has a "retro vhs" version of the movie but it's nowhere near as good as this one.

It looks fun, but I'm already spending too much money on actual 1970s/1980s drive-in horror flicks, let alone throwbacks.

Tell me about it. I need to stop visiting this site so often, it's making a serious dent in my bank account.

Another 15mins of so added to the actual movie itself would have made for a really good campy horror schlocky movie imho. Kept me interested in it more than some bigger budget, bigger name horror movies.
