This is a really excellent film. Incredible stop-motion work. I got to see the film in theater with directors GDT and Mark Gustafson in person, which was such a cool experience. I wrote about that here if you want to read about it.

That's incorrect. Since it's coming out in December, it won't qualify for the 50% off sale. The earliest this will likely be half-off will be in Feb/March when Criterion has their 24-hour flash sale.

There was a time when you could pre-order the following month's releases in store at B&N during their sale and get them at 50% off; it relied on them having the new releases in their system. People definitely were able to do that in years past. I wonder if that still works?

What I remember (though I could be wrong):

• Criterion (sale in spring) allows preorders in their half-off sale
• BN never allows sale price preorders during their half-off sale
