I would not be suprised if they did copy, microsoft does not want sony to have any type of sucsess. but you know what they say! Imitation if the best form of flattery.

The article sounds more like an op-ed page than hard news. He even acknowledges that it's just a rumor in the end, and points to a blog.

If this is true, then all this shows that M$ just like to steal ideas and all the Xbots will be sayin' "yay we're getting somethin' better then Home that Microsoft didn't steal", while in the past they said that "Home is gay, Home sux, whats the point of 3D characters, etc, etc". Wouldn't it be funny if the 3D characters on M$ "Home" were all the cartoon characters from Microsoft BOB? Also, wouldn't M$ "Home" need a hard drive that the core 360 doesn't have cos I remember when Sony said that Home would need a HDD for the Home service (I'm not sure if this is true, I don't remember that well).

Wow, Sony *AND* Microsoft are giving us web-based characters that we can use in our PS3's and XBox 360's. They live, eat, breath and we can design apartments for them, and buy them stuff. Ahh...a digital world where almost every male avatar is ultra-built and every female looks like a swimsuit model.

I wonder if it will be like the 1997's Digimon, 2000's The Sims, 2003's Second Life, 2004's Sims 2, or the vast array of other similar virtual community products?

Perhaps one difference here, is now there is a FUN and creative way to get spyware, malware, and spam hidden in harmless files all delivered to your console in addition to you home computer. Mmm, yay!

I wish Sony & Microsoft would stop trying to be an 'everything to everyone' company with their gaming systems, and work to imrpove the quality of the consoles instead of trying to cram every latest fad into them in their unending game of technological 'leap frog'.

No matter which system it's on, the idea is equally stupid, and I couldn't not use it fast enough

I have to agree, I really could care less about Home or an Xbox 360 version of Home.

Sure has been alot of improvements since the last generation

Virtual worlds[home], Mii's, Retro game downloads, HD versions of Retro games, PS1 game downloads, Firmware/System Software updates, Multi player through the Console no-longer by the Software company, Focus on Pictures+music+video, interactivity between consoles and handhelds, Market places to shop in without leaving home, consoles become home media computers[excluding the wii], focus on continual upgrading and adding features rather then a pre set SKU system. Lastly companies copying each other so consumers win.

It's gonna suck on the 360 because M$ loves to rush things out to the market rather then take their time to make sure it's a good product.

I hope in the end it's a rumor. Also I doubt M$ will make it free. I like some of M$, but not the xbox division.

Also wicky... why do you think it's stupid? I've played things similar and they are great fun.

I have no interest in home or a 360 equivalent. Give me achievements and the dashboard I already have with some improvements and I'm happy.

Imitation is a great form of flattery and if Microsoft is indeed going to copy the home idea Sony should be proud.

Has Nintendo stolen any ideas in the console wars? They were the first with Analog, vibration, motion sensing, wireless controllers and 4 controller ports. I can't think of anything else.
