Default Anyone Own S.K.A.T.E.?

I played the SKATE demo and thought it was kinda fun, but never bought it. When I was browsing at Best Buy today I saw that it supported four players (offline). I looked at some reviews but I wasn't able to find much about the offline multiplayer support.

What types of games can you play /offline/ in multiplayer mode? Are there any "race" modes? Any good?

My friends and I like to get together to play multiplayer games. One guy had a Wii with a Tony Hawk game that included a four-player downhill race mode. We found it so much fun. But the Wii sucks overall. I was hoping to get the same thing on the PS3.

Thanks for your help!

I own it but haven't really done the multiplayer thing...but that game is awesome...beats Tony Hawk with a stick.

its definetly top EA material. well its better than "top" since there really isn't many good games made by EA.

it def. beats tony hawk though.

I loved SKATE. It was the first game I bought with my PS3 after I had tried the demo on PSN.

Offline multiplayer mode consists of only two challenges: S.K.A.T.E. (Horse) and Spot challenge (highest score from a single combo).

Time for brutal truth. Offline multiplayer is incredibly short-sighted. SKATE is exactly what you do in game - copying [flip] tricks exactly. Grab tricks and combos are not supported (lame). Tony Hawk's implementation of Horse is far superior, and far more "fair". First person up pretty much has home field advantage and can take a clean sweep so long as they don't fall doing any tricks.

I have spent 99% of my offline multiplayer time playing the spot challenge. Bust the biggest trick off the obstacle you can. Each player has 3 attempts. Person with the highest score from a single attempt wins. You unlock more spots through single player and many of them are a lot of fun - but it gets old after a while. You are limited to the spots chosen by the game, and you can't chain tricks together with manuals, etc. It's whatever you can do with a grinds&grabs in a single line.

They need to do a major overhaul in SKATE2. Framerate issues aside, single player was incredibly awesome and it was my favorite game when I got my PS3, but multiplayer was completely overlooked, especially for a game on this generation of systems.

I found the controls didn't work with me so no I don't. Guess I don't like change.

I have it for the 360, fun games. Only reason I picked the 360 was cuz of the easy achievements. But that Rob and Big challenge is crazy hard!
