Default Now that Blu-ray won the format war; Star Wars?

Think George Lucas will eventually release the trilogy on Blu-Ray?

I voted yes

Yes, he eventually will. No, he's in no rush. Lucas crawls at a snails pace when it comes to releasing the original trilogy. For a guy who moves so slowly he is remarkably rich.

The idea behind most movies is to get it on shelves before the ferver wears down to the point where people don't care about the movie any more. But Star Wars is oddly unique where as it doesn't matter when it comes out, it sells like crazy.

Would be a dumb move on his part not to. He can release all the movies seperate first, then special editions, then sets of 3 (1-3 and 4-6). And then this christmas the ultimate edition which has everything. Big chunk of change for him.

LMAO...depends on how ole Georgie is feeling...

If hes in one of his *****y, rampage, I don't care what anyone thinks moods he'll probably said "f*ck it" and just say no for a long time.

If hes in one of his greedy, I want more money moods he'll say yes and boss everyone, take FOREVER, and finally release the damn movies on Bluray.

Only to RErelease them a year later with more "content".

Well you gotta figure hes going to score big on the Indy franchise this year. KOTCS in theaters in May and then he will release the first 3 in a collection and the 4th seperate this winter. So he wont need money from Star Wars, at least not this year

We'll see the CGI feature this year on BD, but no live action until titles are moving in much greater numbers.

I'm sure we'll see it eventually. But not for a while. We know they're redoing some effects shots for The Phantom Menace, such as replacing the fugly Yoda puppet with the CGI replacement designed for Episode II. Just consider how long it took to finally get the OT on DVD, and assume there will be a signifigant wait for Star Wars on Blu-Ray while elements and extras are prepared. Though we'll probably see the Clone Wars toon show up first, since there won't be so much money required to prepare it for Blu. Either way, I say bring it on!

I want him to, does that count for anything?

I don't see it for a while. I mean, it took him years to put Star Wars out on DVD...I don't see it happening anytime soon. That being said, I would LOVE for him to make a liar out of me.

There were over 100 million dvd players in the US alone when SW came on DVD, that is because they knew it would sell very well. I do not think you will see it on BD before there are many, many more BD players sold. I hope I am wrong, but this is normel for Lucas Film to hole off until the market is ripe.

Keep in mine they will use Blu to sell SW, not SW to sell Blu

George Lucas will milk the Star Wars franchise for all it's worth. Of course he'll release the series on Blu. He'd be a fool not to. It's only a matter of time.

Lucas will wait until the format has had time to mature and more players are in homes. I think right now he is more focused on the Star Wars tv projects and he is working on converting the series into digital 3D.
