Just watched Mission Impossible 3 tonight and this being one of my favorite action movie, I'm dissapointed to find it sounds rather weak and dull esp when compared to the other blu-ray movies that have uncompressed audio. I have to raise the volume by nearly +6db above my normal hearing level before it sounds better and even then the sound stage is poor and dynamics is seriously lacking. I think it even sounds worse than the DVD version. This is the only Blu-Ray disc I owned that doesn't have a uncompressed soundtrack.
I press the info button on my remote and this Blu-Ray disc only comes with a 640kps DD track. I wonder if it could be bec my PS3 doesn't decode Dolby Digital well? Or just the sound on this disc sucks bec it is not uncompressed? ![]() -------------------- Samsung 61" DLP projector Denon 3808 Receiver PS3 KEF iQ series Speakers System Focal Subwoofer |

Just to be sure, I just re-watched MI3 on DVD again and indeed the soundtrack on the DVD is far better! Puzzling... |

Oops.. I should add that I play the DVD using my Samsung DVD player and not the PS3. I'll check my setting again, thanks!

Agreed uncompressed or lossless is always better. But it still it doesn't explain why it can sound much worse than the DVD, is it? Since the DD soundtrack on this BD and the DVD should be identical, or it is not?

I watched MI:3 about a week ago and I had the exact same feeling about the audio. It did not seem to have anywhere near the same quality as the uncompressed soundtracks I've become used to on Blu-ray. Sounds were not as distinct as in an uncompressed track. I felt like I was listening to something as opposed to being a part of it (if that makes any sense).
