Default lack of classic Disney titles on Blu-ray?

why is it classic disney movies like finding nemo, toy story, monster inc, and others are not on blu ray? they are probably the most popular animation films ever, especially toy story for being the pioneer of its kind.

any release dates or rumors?

Disney has released a large amount of titles considering how new this technology is...

the technology is around 2 years old, and there really arent that many disneys out, especially pixar. It seems like everyone else does so much more.

There is no need to rush these titles. Give Pixar time so that these will be the best possible. I have seen the promo vid with Finding Nemo on it and i have to say it looks AMAZING. Give them time, every one of them will make it to the shelves.

Both Pixar and Disney classics are cash cows for them and they will take as much time as needed to get them to the best quality picture and sound. Just look at Cars and Rat. I wouldnt be surprised if both were being worked on from the time that Disney announced support for bluray.

When DVD was two years old did you see Disney classics on it? Just wondering?

It was the same way with DVD. Disney saved the best (classic titles) for last practically, and for a limited time only.

I would have thought they would release 101 Dal. on Blu at the same time as the 2 disc special edition.

Or Aristocats even. Just tells me that its going back into the vault and prob won't see it for 10+ years on blu-ray unless there is a changing of the guards at a corporate level.

im not talking about movies like beauty and the beast and 101 d's. companies like sony didnt need to sell dvd's back then to show the amazing potential of tube tv's. These days its different and companies like sony rely on sales of 1080p/720p media for consumers to enjoy their products.

i figured since animations are the best looking blu rays out ( and i worked retail electronics for the past 2 years, a demo of 'cars' sold many blu ray players) they would try and get movies like finding nemo out sooner. I cant wait to see that, the colors of the tropical fish will certainly show whos got the best contrast ratio

its confusing when u see the first 3 die hards converted to blu, Rocky, blazing saddles, the lethal weapons, but no toy story?

guess we gotta sit and wait

As far as Pixar titles are concerned, you have to realize they've only produced 8 feature films. By the end of 2008 they will have 9 features (including WALL-E) and 4 of them will be on BD (with the reasonable assumption WALL-E will be released for on disc for the holidays)---that's an awfully high percentage of their output, considering the immaturity of the format.
