I am using a brand new Sony HT-SS2000 receiver. The PS3 is hooked up via HDMI.
When I play a game, everything works fine, video, audio. It all looks and sounds great. When I try to play a BR DVD, that was working before, I get the sound, but no video. Any suggestions? |

Its because the Sony 2000 series is only 720p and you probably have the settings set at 1080p and the receiver doesn't recognize the signal. Try bypassing the receiver and hooking directly to the TV. Then run an optical Audio Cable to the Receiver.

I just checked the specs and yes it does support 1080p so that's not it. I have no idea why a game would work but not a movie especially if they're coming from the same source. Did you enable 1080p video output on your PS3?

It should be able to handle a 1080p signal, since the game was working, as well as the PS3 system menu. That is a 1080p signal. Plus, like the other reply stated, its the Sony Blu Ray matching component, so it has to be fit to send a 1080p signal. Thanks for replies so far. |

Also, does anyone currently have a PS3 hooked up to the same receiver? Maybe you could tell me your settings.

Hey, I have the HT-SF2000, (the one with 4 tower stands). I currently have my Blu-Ray, Sat. DVR, and XBOX connected to it, and it all works out fine. I can hear all the audio and video on all my components. So im not sure whats up with yours. We basically have the same reciever, just different speakers I believe. My roomate has the PS3, but he's not home at the moment for me to check it out. But when he gets home, ill try it out and see if I get any problems watching a Blu-Ray movie.
Im assuming its something to do with your PS3. You might have some setting thats preventing you from watching a movie with no picture. |
