outside the house you have to connect through an internet connection

Sounds like your wi-fi doesn't extend that far out.

you also have to set the PS3 to connect through internet. you can access this on the PS3's romote settings(under settings of course). check the box that says "allow remote play via internet". that should do it.

EDIT: and you have to make sure you have an internet connection for your PSP to connect to.

Pretty sure I have that checked as I can connect via the internet in my house. I think it might be my router setting.

could be but i doubt it. you gotta make sure the access point you're using for your PSP has no security. thats a common reason for timing out

Access point is my router. I've got FIOS with a Verizon wirless router. My PS3 is daisy chained to that via a wire through a D Link router(I think) so I am sure that doesn't help it. I'll see what I can did up tonight. I know I tried to access my setting the other day but log in and password didn't work.

ok so let be sure i understand. you're trying to connect you PSP through the same internet connection that your PS3 is using? because i tried that and it didnt work for me. i think it has to be a different access point when connecting via internet

In house I connect via internet using Home(My router) after I get the error screen I connect via access point selecting my PS3. I try this on another network outside my house and the first step always times out.

Is there a different process for "off site" connection?

yeah when you're in the Immediate vicinity of your PS3 always connect selecting "private network" and select "PS3" as your access point. now when on another access point(for ex. at a starbucks or something) you wanna select "via internet" and select whatever access point you're using, not PS3. i'll post exact procedure i use when i get home for ya

I could try that but I don't get past the first step as it times out.

From http://manuals.playstation.net/docum...einternet.html

You have to make sure your router is port forwarding to the PS3.

TCP/UDP:9293

Some put their PS3 in the DMZ. I don't, I port forward. Still it seems like Remote Play is hit or miss.
