Default Took the SACD plunge

Got a Pioneer DV-48AV today. I played Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon SACD and I gotta say it was really good. I certainly will be starting a DVD-A/SACD collection. Anyone have any recommendations?

LOTS!

Dire Straits - "Brothers in Arms"
Anything Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck

check out sa-cd.net for titles, reviews, pricing and resellers.

Edit: I'll keep adding. What is your taste in tunes?
Edit2: you doing DSD to your pro or the analog outs to the 5.1?

Have you checked out any of the new Acoustic Sounds Blue Note SACDs? I think only a few are available now, but more will be shipping soon. They're pricey, but I want several of them. Blue Note was my favorite label.

I took the plunge a little while ago. Man I wish SACD was mainstream.

If you like that sort of music I would definatly look into Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral. Awesome album and it sounds out of this world too

I end up having to import most of what I like. I've seen their stuff, yes. I hit their site the other day to find some re-issues on vinyl. It's a terrible addiction but now that we have a new convert from gen-mp3, I want to work to keep him. * passes the kool-aide *

There's another thread out there with some very good content. Doby has lots of posts and I see his comments and reviews on sa-cd.net quite a bit. I trust his feedback. I'll try to find a link so we don't clog up the works.

Edit: HA! It's a sticky too. Click me!

I've read a few threads in the last week or two about SACD and I hope there are more. Maybe "industry insiders" (you gotta believe they check out our forums) will realize there is a demand and increase the availability of the titles offered at the moment.

I only got exposed to SACD last year when auditioning my Totem Sttaf speakers and I was blown away by it. And that is a compliment from a guy who has over 3,000 vinyl Lp's and, as such, is a vinyl junkie.

You keep the recommendations for titles coming...I'll be looking for them and reach down a little deeper in my pockets for a few purchases.

I hope Sony puts out an ES blu-ray player with SACD DSD over HDMI and iLink. Pretty sure Pioneer will have a BD with SACD and DVD-A.

Not exactly sure. I'm just using an hdmi to my receiver. I set the output to 5.1channel LPCM on the player. Still new to the SACD thing, so Im still learning.

I took the plunge on Wednesday! Dark Side as well!!! I don't have a receiver or 5.1 set up, but even using the 2 channel feed, the disc had a "fuller, richer" feel to it. I look forward to getting a system that really takes advantage of the SA

I also bought Dark Side of the Moon yesterday! It's really great!

But I prefer NIN - The Downward Spiral, it's really great... Now I have the CD, the DVD-A and the SACD... But I prefer the SACD since the second disc has b-sides in 2ch stereo...

Now if only the ps3 could play DVD-A... I guess I will have to bring down my dvd player to test some DVD-A on my new system (NIN - With Teeth, Metallica (Black album), Foo Fighters - One by One, System of a Down - Hypnotize).

Besides that, I haven't found much SACDs to my taste...

Don't count on the PS3 supporting DVD-A....Sony has a vested interest in pushing another failed format....which they seem to have left out of the 40gb.

Get the Pixies on SACD. Great discs. If you like classic soul get the Sam Cooke SACDs

I know it won't happen but it would be great (and more convenient for me, but who cares about that!)

On another note, blu-ray audio discs with digital copy would be great...

Mark Knopfler's Shangri-la is phenomenal.

All of the old ABKCO Stones albums and most of the Dylan reissues are great. They are Hybrids so play in regular CD players also.

Sheryl Crow - Globe Sessions
Jamie Cullum - twentysomething (more jazzy)

Both are excellent and make good use of the surrounds.
