Thumbs up I finally joined the Bluray club :)

I finally managed to get a 60GB PS3 for a decent price, it's being shipped to me as i type this. so in preparation, i went out and bough XMEN 3 on BD. i also wanted to get Mission Impossible 3, but they only had the trilogy, and i only wanted MI3.

How is Terminator 2? it's myall time favorite flick, and i was wondering how good the quality is in HD....or is it one of those BDs that look like DVD quality?

and last, is Disney joining BD or HD-DVD? ....oops, is Open Season available on BD yet?

i'm currently in france, and the BD/HD-DVD selection is very poor since all of the formats are imported.

thanks again!

Good choices!

It's better than DVD, but it's not earth shattering, IMO.

If you're a big fan of the movie, though, you should be well pleased enough.

Disney is exclusive to BD.

Yes, T2 is faithful to the master...so is Total Recall, IMO. Most importantly, the new sound should blow you away.

T2 looked really sharp when I was demoing a 1080p DLP. Doesn't look as sharp on my 768p, but that should be remedied when my new TV gets here. Like all movies, some scenes look absolutely amazing, while others don't. My favorite scene is when T-1000 is chasing him on the bike and Arnold comes to save the day on his motorcycle. The close-ups they show are really sharp. There are some dessert scenes that are a little grainy for my taste and aren't as sharp. Definitely a good disc by all means.

Awesome, i should pick up T2 then

i also forgot to note that i'm buying the Sony 1080p 52" LCD Bravia very soon...

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...080_Flat_Panel

though the wife is guaranteed to kill me after seeing it in my movie/gaming room! lol

i was also tempted to get the XBOX 360 HD-DVD but i had to choose a format and support it, and i hope to god BD is the winner. having 2 formats only makes thing more costly and confusing for customers.

my main purpose is playing video games, but once the winner is decided, i will fully support the winning format.

btw, what is MPEG 2 AVC? i know mpeg is a form of compression, but what is AVC? is that the same as VC1?

thanks!

EDIT: is Open Season by Disney? and when is it coming out on BD? also what current Disney movies are out already?

First, I want to say congrats on the sexy TV (when you get it)!

MPEG2 is the oldest of the three codecs. It's still a good codec but it generally needs more space to look as good as the advanced codec (VC-1 and AVC. AVC is the short term for MPEG-4 Part 10. VC-1 is as effective as AVC but partially developed by Microsoft. The other can get into more detail with these codecs, but I would suggest you google these terms yourself.

I think Open Season is a Dreamworks title.

For now,

Open Season (Sony)

You can see a Blu-ray trailer of Open Season on the Sony demo disc playing on Sony BD Players if there's one around you...

For a list of Disney movies and others go look at the Apocalist

ok, silly question, and i know this has been asked a billion times....but in your opinion(biasizm and fanboy aside ), whom do you think will win the format war between BR and HD-DVD? or will both fail and DVD prevail?

It will definitely look better than the DVD. But, the question would be whether it looks better by enough to justify this version.

It believed to be from the DTheater master, which wasn't very inspired. It's also the basic theatrical version, so you can be sure another release of the special edition is inevitable.

According to a new piece on TheDigitalBits.com, BVHE (that's Disney) remains committed to BD and that reports suggesting their support for HD-DVD is untrue.

I want Flushed Away! Paramount better give a good BD disc.
