Default New Line revisiting Nightmare on Elm Street

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080130/...m/nightmare_dc

Looks like New line wants to bring Freddy Back. For those of you that love him. Micheal Bay is producing.

Ya gotta love Freddy. Some of those movies were garbage, but i thought 1 and 3 were awesome. Bring it on back I say, I mean what the heck hollywood keeps making all these sequels, why not this one.

From what I hear, it is supposed to be a prequel

Wes Craven's New Nightmare was good too.

Yeah good call. I have the box set and I somehow forgot that one. Pretty solid movie I agree. Nothing beats the orginal. Now just imagine if it goes Blu...that scene with the blood coming out of the bed would be awesome

Hell yes! I love Nightmare!

From the sounds of this article it sounds like it is a retelling of the original, but with more backstory info. I don't think the entire movie is a prequel.

Did anyone else get this impression?

Not too interested in a prequel, though I sure as hell would love to get some of these on BD. Particularly 1-4 and New Nightmare. I actually enjoyed them all except for Freddy's Dead.

It would be somewhere between difficult and impossible to replace Robert Englund. I hope they are smart enough not to.

I have to admit, I dig these remakes, especially TCSM. The scene where Leatherface chases the guy out into the yard and they're running through the hanging laundry is INTENSE when you've got the sound cranked. I think one of the reasons these work is that they're pretty simple plotlines, so as long as they keep the suspense up, they work pretty well. I

After seeing Rambo I'm really wanting some more 80's style horror and action films. Don't go crazy with the budget so they can make them violent and realistically bloody and you don't have to worry about the teens getting in to see it in order to turn a profit (:cough: Live Free Or Die Hard :cough: (although I loved LFODH)) I really liked Rambo because it was believeable. In the internet era, it's not impossible to find out what it looks like when somebody gets shot with a 50 cal. Don't pussify it for a movie. Same goes for the horror films. Call me sick, but I want to see the best approximation of what it would look like for somebody to get hacked up with a chainsaw, or slashed up with a razor glove . . . as our society grows more "enlightened," it seems our movies have been neutered more and more. Hopefully this will end soon . . .

I agree...Robert was AWESOME! And therein lies the problem....
If they were to make a new Nightmare movie they would have to use someone different as Freddy, wouldn't they? If Robert Englund was in it again it would be the same movie and there would be no point. Either way it's tricky and going to be hard to do I think.

Robert if you read these posts, please don't mistake our excitement for another Nightmare film with wanting a different Freddy. There is only one...

Well the word being attached to this is RELAUNCH so whatever that means. Maybe similar to what Batman Begins was to the older Batman movies. And this is kind of bad news in terms of Blu-ray because if they are really going through with this it probably also means we have a long while to wait until we even see the older movies releases.

Very well stated. I couldn't agree more.

It will not be a straight remake, but a relaunch, which means the writers will incorporate their own ideas to start the story from the beginning, like Batman Begins.

My guess is it will start with Freddy as a child killer hunted down by the parents and burned alive, then it will get into the dream element.

I just can't see any other actor but Englund playing Freddy.

I predict a lot of slow-motion money shots, and anytime Freddy claws someone they explode in a massive fireball.

I was skeptical about this cause I love Freddy until I saw Michael Bay is one of the producers. Lets get this movie moving now.

I looks to be what Rob Zombie did with Halloween, which in that case I love it. Why remake what we all have memerized give use 75% new stuff and 25% remake of the original.

Now about the box set on blu this movie may only speed up that release. I really trust New Line with this they now where their bread is buttered, and it sure as hell aint Lord of the Rings.

Well wouldn't it be hilarious if Johnny Depp ended up playing Freddy Krueger?
