"Starship Troopers 3: Marauder"...Will Johnny Rico survive this one? - Blu-ray Forum

I'm sure some of you know that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is planning to release a third Starship Troopers movie to DVD on July 15 entitled, "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder", and that they were able to bring back Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico, the ONLY role that made him famous in the first place! And I would like to get your opinions as to whether or not he will survive this third round against the never-ending war on the bugs.

I'm not a religious person, but I am on my knees praying that they do a good job with this one. I love the first, and the second NEVER existed!

Didn't even realize they made a second. The first is a guilty pleasure of mine. The 2nd sounds like I should not even try to find it, but the third looks promising in that B movie way.

I watched the trailer. Oh dear God...
Did they only have two sets? Some of that green-screen work looked terrible. Poor, poor Casper. Reduced to shouting nonsense on some hack-job DTV pile of crap. Tut, tut.

The second one was made for $6 million. It wasn't bad for what it was

This one is $20 million, and it looks like the FX are barely beyond layout stage. I'm betting that a lot of sky and such is added in the final version

I will await more info on this before making a comment. The first one was good, the second was horrible and like others have stated, straight to DVD is not a good sign.

Sony should just go all at it and spend $200 million, $50 million more then the 1st one... Ahhh I can imagine how cool it would be. Paul actually said he wanted to do a sequel to this movie if Sony allows him to, but unfortunately the 1st movie was a bit short then their expectation so that wasn't happening...

How about spending $200 million on the actual story instead of 2 half scenes with a completely new movie wrapped around it?

They literally stole more from the 80s Japanese anime version (prom and football game) than from the book

Just watched the trailer, the CGI looks......... bad, I loved the first movie and the second was also pretty good. Sony needed to spend the money and get all of the original cast back for a true sequel since they will be bringing in a ton of Blu-ray royalties now. I hope this is a good movie.

I think they should just call it Starship Troopers : Marauder, that way no one will ever have to remember that there was a 2nd

wow. I had high hopes for this you know? ever since I heard about it in October. but that looked.... bad. BAD. TERRIBLE! like the "Grenade!" wtf? and the tentacle eye thing. poor casper. not even he should have to suffer through this. he was laughing at his own lines!
