My first post on the forum - I'd like to offer my opinion (simple new idea?) on the black bar aspect ratio issue, which I know has been widely discussed previously. Most persons on this forum seem to favor the original aspect ratio for Blu-Ray DVDs. Myself, I hate the black bars - to me, it seems to be huge waste of available 16:9 wide screen TV. I think if you take a national poll, you would find the general public pretty much split 50/50 on this issue (an actual poll was taken) - the results were split - about half want to retain the artistic intent of the dirertor, and the other half could care less about the director and simply want to fill the entire screen of their new HD TV with a nice HD picture. My recommendation: future Blu-Ray DVDs should offer a choice for the consumer - offer the original aspect ratio version, and also offer a full screen version (say 1:85) -let the customer choose - I think that would solve the issue. What's wrong with that simple recommendation?
