Default Do you need to install all firmware versions?

I've got a floor model samsung bd-p1000 that I've had for a few months. I've never tried updating firmware. I see that the latest is version1.5; can I just install this version or should I also try to install all previous versions?

You won't need to install the previous versions. Pretty much everything you need is on that one update, it'll catch up.

Can't speak to the 1000, but for the 1200, some folks feel that new firmware fixes some issues and causes new ones. Because of this, some owners are deliberately choosing to run older firmware. Unless you have a very specific reason for using an older version, I'd go with the latest.

FYI, you can only run one version, and whatever version you load last will overwrite the previously installed version, so there's no point in loading them all in sequence.
