Default Sony Playstation Customer Service

I wanted to relate a pretty amazing story about Sony.

One of my PS3's just died last week Wednesday. Called customer service, they walked me thru on to confirm that the console was in fact dead. Got my service number and was told that my UPS box was on the way to send the unit in to be replaced (got the unit in November). Well, they over-nighted the box to me. I took the box then to the UPS store on friday morning. Just got confirmation from UPS and Sony that my new unit is being delivered tomorrow (Thursday). That is just over a week turn-around!

That is customer service!!

They told me the hard drive died after walking me thru the system check. I know it is really rare for a PS3 failure, but to have a new one at my door in a weeks time, can't complain.

My original PS3 died on arrival on launch (Bluray drive would not take any discs) And got the replacement within a week. Then, that one died 8 months later (boots up for about 20 seconds and dies) so I'm on PS3 #3 which was a refurb unit. Overall the CS was excellent so I can't complain.

Wow. That is excellent CS.

What PS3 model died and what PS3 did Sony send as a replacement? Just wanting to know how they handled that.

I've had my Xbox 360 for 14 months now, with no RRoD. I'm going for the record!
