Hi guys,
I know there's been threads about this topic before but I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I have a 65" 1080P HDTV, a Sony BDP-S300 and an HDMI cable connecting them. And I sit about 10 feet away from the TV. I, like others, don't always feel like I'm getting that wow factor that you're supposed to get with high-def. I was just wondering what kinds of settings you might suggest that may help to enhance the viewing experience. Even actual numeric levels on the settings would help, i.e. contrast levels, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Mike |

1. Is your player set to output 1080p? Check the setup menu to be sure it's selected correctly.
2. Is your TV truly 1080p compatible? Is there a menu setting that allows you to tell the TV what input resolution to recognize? You'll be able to tell if it is working once you've set the player correctly. The TV "display" button should bring up the input signal resolution and read 1080p while a BD is playing. Once you have these answered, it'll be easier to go from there. Lee |

The best thing you can do is put the tv on a movie or cinemas mode if it has one, and use one of the SMPTE bars easter egg on a sony blu-ray to set the brightness if you have one. You can access the easter egg by pressing 7669 on the menu screen. If you are experienced with a/v, you could probably get better results by doing some service menu adjustments. Also, you want any of the edge enhancement or black level correctors, etc set to off. As for contrast and other settings, you just have to eyeball it if you don't have a calibration disc. You could also try searching avs forums for some settings for your tv and use those as a starting point.
