Possible new use for Blu-ray

I don't know if this has been discussed yet but has anyone tossed around the notion of re-releasing old tv shows on blu ray. What I mean is that a lot of shows were recorded on something other than film which makes an HD transfer pretty tough.

My thing is that say for instance MASH Season 1 on dvd, it takes 4 discs and when it was first released cost about 30 dollars. What about releasing entire seasons of older shows on 1 disc since the format can hold over 5 times as much as a dl dvd can.

I like the idea of having say the first season of MASH all on one disc in either dvd or slightly better than dvd quality and it would be a way to get some mileage out of the format.
